@mrcornbreadmonster No, it doesn't really "overheat" but it gets pretty hot. Current gearing is 18/87. Regarding the X12 motor -- the bearnings really need to be serviced regularly. I ended up cooking two sets of the standard X12 bearings before switching to the ceramic bearings they offer. They don't completely solve the problem (as they need regular cleaning and lube too) but so far they have lasted.
@TraxxasTM33 Yes, all the "sealed" can motors have this issue. I have used the old LRP X11, Castle Creations, and Excelorin motos (made by Castle) and can say that they definately don't keep sand and fine dirt out. It eventually finds it way in there and gets trapped. All of them need periodic disassembly and cleaning. I have found that an open or vented can (like the LRP X12 and Trinity motors) actually do a better job by allowing the stuff to get out.
does it over heat wth fun and wht gearing do u use fr it ( 7.5 im tlkn bout )

does the excelorin have a problem with dirt/sand getting in the motor? cuz mine does bad i go in my drive way then it starts to COG really bad

the dt has to be put up i run bl to venom 5.5t with ezrun 60amp ec and a 3s lipo 5000mah and i handle air better than the dt.
