just found your video. I'm interested in your valve system and feeder. I will have to check yourother videos. have you considered adding some alge eating fish?
Nice update. A little eerie at the end there with the music. Are those gold fish or carp? Would be nice to see the outside garden. What did the greenhouse temp spike to with this current heatwave?
@NewEnglandgardening The air stays nice under the canopy of tomatoes and cukes. The plants never wilt under the heat since they are always in the the moist media. You don't want to see the garden...unless you like wilted plants and weeds! ;-)
Not sure what the difference is between our systems but my bell peppers have so many peppers on them I had to tie the up to support the weight. I can't eat them fast enough.
Since the food for the plants comes essentially from the fish food, do you find it more cost efficient to feed the fish instead of the plants? I could understand if you were growing edible fish there would be a value of having meat and vegetables but I'm getting stuck on thinking you have an extra step ( the fish ) which is not providing any real benefit over a simpler system.
@buckstarchaser The fish food is dirt cheap and easy to use. Many people use other sources of food such as worms, maggots (fed from meat scraps), or even human pee (commonly called peePonics). I'll probably spend about $8-10 in fish feed for the summer.
The fish are bigger! Good job! Btw; i started my greenhouse based on yours here in Quebec Canada. Structure is all done but the only panel i have available is 1/4'' inch, will this be enough in your opinion?
He explained in his last year video that he isn't much of a fish eater which is why he uses gold fish. They are very hardy and produce PLENTY of waste for the grow beds.
great video, out of curiosity how long do your cucumber flowers stay bloomed before the cucumber starts to develop. Also what is your male to female plant difference?
@Kudaimo The blossoms last a day or two. The same plant will produce both male and female blossomes and the bees germinate them (or you can do it by hand) The mail flowers will show a tiny cucumber behind it so you can tell the difference. Typically when the plant is young, it will start with mostly female flowers and when it starts to get bigger will produce a ton of male.
nice plants. I thought about getting a 10x12 green house and planting a few Mango trees and dragon fruit in pots do u think that would work

angelleeromo 7 months ago
@angelleeromo I bet you could use turtles! I know a few people that put a turtle in their tanks and they started to eat the fish. ;-)

@web4deb i would like to knwo how the fish tank works and how did you make it thanks for sharing your videos =D
angelleeromo 7 months ago
@web4deb @angelleeromo Be aware tho turtles can carry salmonella and could possibly cross contaminate to your veggies

partyje 7 months ago
@partyje If it's double wall, it should be OK. It would have an R value of around 2.0. It's better than just plain plastic or single pane glass.

@web4deb ok thx i'll try to make a small video when i'm done! thx again!

Were those just goldfish?

@web4deb You don't like Crappy?
Love your setup! Hydro is a blast as I learned from deep water culture;
plants grew like crazy with all that extra oxygen.
I'll look for last years carrot video if you made one?
