Je suis désolé mais le Commando Kieffer est considéré comme l'un des premiers Commando Français et il a été entrainé par les SAS Britanniques (qui font partie des British Commandos, je te l'accorde). Les infos données sur Sword Beach disent "No. 4 Commando were augmented by 1 and 8 Troop (both French)". Toi tu me parles des SAS lancés en Bretagne (Opérations Samwest, Cooney & Dingson) qui sont effectivement les ancêtres des RPIMA et aussi du 2ème RCP (aujourd'hui dissous).

While it shows more than four on a reconn patrol they normally operate in one man or two man operations. Each soldiers parachutes with two wooden boards to create a hide place. The #1 enemy of these units in places like Iraq or Afghanistan are DOGS of all things. While humans have a hard time finding their hiding places for what ever reasons dogs do fast.

@angenio most of french special forces (airborne troops) like 1er RPIMa were trained by british, you got "Qui ose gagne" in french which means "Who dares wins".

That's why it looks like british technics.

Yep, its the SAS Motto and the motto of one French Special Force regiment which are heir of the SAS since the end of the WW2 when they have jumped together on France. That's y the british have offered the Red Beret to the french paratroopers.

1er RPIMa are the BEST !!!!

My opinion about the best special forces in the world:

1) english SAS

2) french 1er RPIMa ( COS )

3) US ARMY special forces ( navy seals, delta force, green bérets)

Those guys forms the worlds best unit for long range recce. In general are french special forces best in the world, better then their wannabe US counterparts.

That's true! The French special forces are better than the US SF (Rangers, Navy Seal, etc.). They are as good as the Israelian forces, a little better than the British SF and really better than any US special forces! Good job froggies! :)

This regiment is pure recce reg. They normally work in pairs for long duration mission in hostile area.

nice vid, shows how reconnaissance really works... i like it a lot, hard to find recce vids. im a canadian reconnaissance soldier myself and these guys are pretty good, spacing wasnt to bad, not a word said (from the vid) and guys are freefall qual. very nice..

The unit of the video is the 13 Dragoon Paratrooper Regiment (13éme RDP), its a observation unit, their goal is to watch enemy activities (during many days, in snow, trees etc...) and inform the command.

I have an other video, more interesting but in french, but i'll to put the video if you want, it's during a observation in a sort of "igloo" in the alps.

commando, this is a great vid. very thrilling and intense-the music totally rocks and is a perfect match for the type of activities being displayed. the other video regarding the op in a snow cave in the alps sounds very interesting and i'd rather fancy watching the vid when posted. note the absolute focus, discipline and physical prowess of the commandos in the vid-especially the halo jump master towards the end splayed out on the tailgate before the descent into free fall. truly amazing.

The unit of the video is the 13" dragoon paratroopers regiment. Its an observation unit, they have to stay many days hidden in snow, trees etc etc ... If they use their weapon they loose the mission. Today they are a part of the french special forces groups deployed in Afghanistan.

great vid. the video sequences flowed logically and coherently. i just wish that it was a longer video. the music totally rocks! what's the name of the song and what's the groups name? the video doesn't show the countless hours of preparation and training that is required to perform and function at the level of such a highly elite unit.
