  • i loved this game,and the amiga 500, top consule,90's classic

  • Aint gonna lie i watched the whole thing :-)

Memories of childhood mate haha. Good stuff

  • There was a time when I would have loved a game like this but I've been playing this on an emulator, and the gameplay, alas, is pretty shallow. Wander through the maze, shoot the aliens -- which are pretty dumb and slow moving and just wander into your line of fire, pick up stuff, press a button. It's the "Doom" formula except the more primitive graphics highlight the dullness of the formula. I'd rather play "Albion" in this style which has RPG elements.

  • I so miss this game

  • Ahh yea, this was blaady brilliant.

  • I remember reading that Allister made the sounds for the aliens by squeezing his kitten 'til it squealed and sampling it.

    The good old days...

  • ohman

i wana go back an play this

    right now

  • I used to jam on this up in my parents loft.

    I was about 2001

  • this isnt special edition 92 its the 1st alien breed

  • this was the orginal co op alien smash up , amiga home dogs put your hands in the air

  • lol the aliens screams like girls when they dies

  • aiming was a bitch

  • ah the memories

    player 1 requires medkit

  • i have wasted so many hours of my youth on this .....hahaha....awesome cheers for the vid

  • Haha i could play this without getting scared. All the new games are to real and i cant play them alone. (what a looser.)

  • Am I to presume that this special version is AGA only? I hardly see any ECS games on Youtube.

  • oh yeah I loved this game when I was kid!

  • Back than gaming was more fun.

  • Kinnda reminds me of Gauntlet

  • this was great on the amiga so i downloaded it on the 360 i wish didnt :(

  • @monkeydust100 Why? It's a fantastic modern update on Team 17's classic...it's still the same team making the games, something that is VERY rare nowadays. Everyone that loves the originals should support Team 17 and purchase them for whatever machine they have, as there is now versions available on both the PS3 and the Xbox 360. I think the new games are superb, ace graphics, great gameplay, and reasonably priced too...what's wrong with that? Answer...nothing!

  • This game always gave me the creeps when i was little, there was like a weird mood. Fun to see it again :)

  • I have my A1200 and I played AB today. Emulation sucks compared to the real stuff. AB is one of the best survival horror games ever created. You should rather avoid enemies than kill them. Shoot them when you have to pass by. Today's AB games for X-Box are not the same...

  • Happy days!!!

  • been playing alien breed to the xbox360 and got me curious to the original.

    looks great :)

  • I want to get an Amiga now.

  • To all the morons who say that this game is rubbish - you did not grow up in the era of classic gaming. Old school games such as Duke Nukem, Halloween Harry, Cosmos Cosmic Adventure, Jetpack and Raptor.

You cannot repeat the style that these old games had and they have now pathed the way for games that we play today. Stick to your Xbox's and PS3's no one wants to hear you trash talk a classic game

  • @judgeofphoenix

I played most of those back in the day and that doesn't really change the fact that they're garbage. The titles you list (not Apogee's oldest like Kroz; Duke Nukem is a new idea) often aped Japanese arcade titles but lacked the gameplay (Raptor, Stryker). Jetpack was a good puzzle / action title.

All the guy is doing is running around a maze and occasionally stopping to shoot an alien lost in the maze. Where's the challenge and gameplay? I'd rather be playing Captain Comic...

  • @EdOscuro

It's all relative though isn't it? Yes these games may look like poo now but, let's be honest, back then they were beyond Groovy! Do you remember the thrill of watching that bloody ship take off in "Jetpac"? Remember "clocking" pacman/space Invaders/Asteroids?

People today have no idea what "gaming" is - it isn't who has the best "epix" - it isn't who has the biggest gayscore or the most acheivements.

In fact - if I have to explain to you what gaming is - you are already lost.

  • that is the dumbes 2D i ever saw!

  • @Fwjchimx That is the failes commen I ever saw!

  • @Fwjchimx shut the fuck up hater

  • @CaylaBorden It's funny because me and you are the same age and grew up in this era where as that kid is 14 and dosn't have any respect for classic games that set benchmarks for todays games.

Infact he wasn't even born lol

He missed the days when games were about enjoyment with the megadrive, snes and amiga.

  • @bringmeflowers DON'T FORGET THE C64, THE ORIGINAL NES, AND THE COLECOVISION

  • @CaylaBorden Yes i had the C64 but i was more refering to the year in question 1992 when the three machines i mentioned were big.

If i was to say my first one it was a BBC :D

1992 was a good year or at least the early 90s for good simply games.

Another World 1991, Flashback 1992,Cannon Fodder 1993 etc etc

Games that any 14yr old will never appreciate now.

  • WHAT A GAME

  • Everything about this game (including the first image) reminds me of Aliens.

  • @Drake14161337 Same.

  • Just one anoyin but on this game is on Deck 8 there is 2 wall bugs that you can not get past you have to use the walk through wall cheat unless the retail version hasnt got it and its only the .ADF rips that have it that are on the net? Anyone know anything about this

  • Maaan, nostalgia is great!!

I remeber I used to play this game on my Amiga 1200 about 15 years ago.

Especially the sounds bring back memories that I hadn't had since I played this game.

And the "movie" of him going down on the elevator / lift was just great (and on 2-player they would be standing with their backs against each other). THX for the upload!

  • Great! reminded me of "chaos engine" in amiga!! those were the times...

  • Allister Brimble !! I loved the atmosphere in this game...

  • @ioport Yeah you do

  • " player one requires first aid "

  • star trek doors

  • on which amiga are the Alien breed games playable? Amiga 500 ?

  • up down left right fire :)

  • Did they make this as a downloadable classic for the xbox 360 ?

  • Yeah it's called Alien Breed Evolution: Episode 1. They (Team17) said they are making a new trilogy out of it, so there should be two more episodes. They completely revamped the graphics and released it on Xbox Live Arcade. It has local and online co-op as well. It's an awesome remake I'm happy to report. If you liked the original series then definitely get it.

  • Yep I got it.

Now I wonder why they didn't include the original too. Lazy programmers!

  • Very true. That would have made the game a 10 in my book. Maybe they'll add the original in with ep 2 or 3, or maybe in a dlc.

  • puddle looks like a penis.

  • Comment removed

  • just think in another 20 years, how games like left for dead and call of duty modern warefare 2 will have that 'classic' feel to them, whilst we play somthing incredibly more real

  • Moonstone is scary if youre young enough trust me :) i recall mass horror in swamp area where they those things just jumped up and took me down instantly, while i almost threw my joystick away and fell off the chair, or while i was hung in a noose covered in blood blinking. Yeap it was scary alright, but FUN just like this series of games.

  • They dont make them this good any more

  • Top 3 scariest games ever:

    1. Moonstone (Amiga)

    2. Alien Breed SE (Amiga)

    3. Resident Evil (PS)

Hopefully Worms on iPhone sells well so Team 17 considers a releases of Alien Breed SE to the iPhone.

A 100% port of this classic game (including the scary sound effects) would really rock.

If they also manage to throw in a web based level creator/editor (like Labyrinth o iPhone) I'll worship Team 17 for ever :)

  • Are we talking about the same game here? Moonstone? The one where you were a big badass knight with a sword slashing up wave after wave of enemies? How in the name of Rosie's Buffet would anyone ever find that scary? The game was almost funny as I remember it.

  • this used to scare the shit out of me i think it was the sound effects that did it

  • genius

  • This game is being re-made with the unreal engine 3 and then released as a download on the 360 :) never played it b4 but looks kwl, reminds me of gauntlet on the nez (which i downloaded on my 360) :)

  • do you know when its coming out on the 360

  • no confirmation date yet but judging by the screens theyve shon it looks pritty polished so i think we can safely asume sometime in 2009 :p

  • I wish Team 17 would port more of their action titles (like this one) to the DS.

  • the graphics of the gun flames are quite impressive for the age of this game

  • One of Best Action games ever !

  • What is the title of an Amiga 500 game that looked like Alien Breed. When the character would pick up items it would say "Aha". You would also go outside and drive a car. I recall one of the opening images of the game displaying a car equipped with some sort of spikes...

  • jep, you waste ammo on the exploding alien - thats true.

man, i loved that game so much, and im still playing it in WinUAE ^^

  • me either along with Moonstone Another World Sensible soccer and so on :D

  • die sounds werd ich nie vergessen. Unverwechselbar, das Aufsammeln, das "Explodieren" der Aliens und das Hintergrundbrummen. Atmosphäre pur.

  • genau das find ich auch und so hab ich es in erinnerung wie du!

  • This would be a brilliant game for a mobile phone in todays climate!

  • the greatest 2 player ever

  • @cheekyegg

    agreed!

  • @cheekyegg that and chaos engine had it pretty much wrapped up. Oh and populus 2 if you had all the kit.

  • Gah,remember - short, controlled bursts!!!! Otherwise you waste too much ammo!

  • Wish i had that game... but i was born that year :) (1992)

  • same, i play it using an emulator on the pc :)
