  • This song 'Soca Baptist' was the first time a Road March was won by a new comer. 1980 was the first year Blue Boy (now known as Super Blue) started to sing Calypso. The only other rookie to win any other major Calypso title in Trinidad & Tobago was in 1961 when the Mighty Dougla won the Calypso King (now known as Calypso Monarch) title with 'Lazy Man' and 'Split Dougla In Two'.

  • @Quelvisv Machel won Young King on debut not so?

  • liquid magic!

  • love this song..does anyone know how long ago this performance was tho?

  • I look up to Super Blue as a true calypsonian as a icon as well. I wish I can sing like Super Blue. But I can't. I can only imagine.

  • The Master at work. It doesn't get any better than this.

  • Super has a powerful voice as if he was like a general in the military. One of the greatest calypsonians next to Black Stalin, Explainer, Duke, Eddy Grant, Gabby, Grynner, Lord Kitchener, Maestro, Merchant, Poser, Lord Nelson, Shadow, Roaring Lion, The Mighty Sparrow, and King Wellington.

  • trinidesi nativett said he never won Calypso Monarch. Reread his comment again

  • nativett...correction...Blues never won Calypso Monarch...If my memory serves me correctly, the closest he came was 1984 with "Lucy" & "Fete"

  • DAT IS VERY TRUE
