Hey, every time I do anything to do with stretching an audio file (like with this video or just time-stretching in the arrange window) all I get is a really glitchy, bit-crushed noise!
Do you have any idea why it is doing this?! Driving me insane!
just wanted to say thanks for these tutorials...im watching each of them after recently getting my mac; i was a user of logic 5 back on the PC at college, but since i left, they changed to mac and ive been stuck on PC with cubase and reason... recently took the plunge and bought a mac, now its a massive learning curve for me once again but your tutorials are helping so much! thanks...

thanks for the killer tutorials, this is pretty much what I want to do for the rest of my life. Its terrible that people are giving you shit for providing the kind of knowledge you pay tuition for.
If you're a bad musician and aren't good at performing music with real musical instruments, then you aren't going to produce good music with Logic or any other music production software. To make good music, you've got to be a good musician. In today's world you need software to record music, even the most talented musicians know that. Logic just makes new things possible to do with music without having to invest thousands of dollars in larger equipment. I don't see what's wrong with that.
i think they have gone to a length were it has nothing to do with music any more, prosessing, editing, moving and pasting small pieces of data, you have to dedicate your life for a program and you are actually losing the whole point of why you actually started to do this with audio, it could be graphics for that matter.
IF I had dedicated my LIFE to a PROGRAM I would end myself.
Dude. My life with Logic is one teensy tiny facet of my overall relationship with music. Music and me go WAY back. Logic made it entirely possible for me to write, notate, and record an orchestra playing my music, (yes, a real orchestra), and without it, I would've had to sell a kidney to get it done.
Real musicians take the tools at hand--whatever they are--and make great music with them. If Logic took the talent out of music, anyone who could use a Mac would be famous. Sorry...trite argument.
You know, they said something similar about electric guitar when it was introduced. They're all just tools to get the job done. Whatever you're doing - playing a bass, editing an audio clip, applying fx - it's all a means of expression, a way to get the sound you want. If you're able to do that, does it matter how you got there?
@dekz8 It is just a tool to help with many things that were at a much greater cost of time and money. If the learning curve is keeping you from getting down to music, then start with a more basic recording/production process (ie. using Audacity, gargeband) and then graduate to logic when you feel like having more capabilites. But I can relate to your situation.
You're so awesome dude. I've been using Logic for a year now and any time I want to really manipulate an audio file I have to take it into Pro Tools. But things are different now thanks to you.
Perhaps a bit silly question, but I'm still not very used to working with audio (usually work with software instruments), but how did you - quick as you are - apply the multiple divider. By holding option you say in the vid, but that didn't do the trick for me.
first u have to press escape and click on your scissors tool, then once u have the scissors tool selected u press option and u'll see a little plus sign come up next to the scissors and u're ready for the multiple division heh
Indeed. The only problem I have is that you must cut the transient so that you only stretch the tail, not the actual hit. Otherwise, yes, option dranging the roght side of the region is good.
I'm just a control freak who hasn't gotten used to doing everything in the arrange yet :-)
Man,every other book or tutorial pointed out the ingredients. "Look at all these ingredients" they said. "We will tell you about them in depth, though you'll never see half of them again." Finally SFLogicNinja shows up and teaches me how to cook. Waves of gratitude coming to you from the Emerald Isle. Though if you release a DVD I won't buy it, 'cos I'll have this shit sussed already. I'll buy a mug. Or European franchise rights.....
man, i wish i had a way to get these onto my ipod so i can watch them over and over and over and over until maybe one day i will be able to act like i know what i'm doing. thanks sflogicninja for taking the time to share all this great information!!!!
David that prelap sound is what I;ve been looking for , but i never knew how to do the technique. thanks
you should write a book with this stuff in it, as I find a lot of the books don't actually cover this kind of stuff/techniques ( i could be mistaken). have you come across any.
I'll need to form a relationship with a publisher first, and find some copious spare time! Seriously, I'd love to do it. We'll see if something like that pans out. Thanks a lot!
Hi there, first of all thanks for the tips! I have one question about the ancor point. Is there anyway to remove it and work free floating with the audio regions? Thanks!
The anchor point is simply where your region is going to line up on Logic's grid. Instead of the left edge of the region, it could be the middle of the region that lines up. If you are having issues with the region snapping to Logic's grid, try using a different 'snap' mode, or hold control while moving the region. This will increase the snap resolution. Hold control and shift while moving the region to move it by the highest resolution. And you're welcome!

As for the snare FX I think it is easier to stretch the region in the arrangement window Option+Shift+ drug Right Lower Region Corner.
Thanks for the videos
