Maybe I can't make a moral judgment, but I sure as hell can make one concerning his fitness for presidential office, where discretion and tact is a de facto job requirement.

McCain, being the son of a Navy Admiral was obviously an asset and considered a "special prisoner". You're right - no man can "judge" another but for a public official to use such a term is clearly unacceptable.
