I've used diluted muraiatic acid for swimming pools to clean rusty tanks,it only takes a few hours,sometimes more if there's lots of dried gunk in the tank. Now I call radiator shops,some can clean the tanks out without harming the paint.

If you were wondering...apple cider vinegar is about 2% more acidic than white vinegar.
