  • pretty poor video quality here

but the incredible musical quality still shines through

  • Mr Gordon & mr Wray together were as perfect as sex and cigarettes! Just Two of the greatest ever. There will be always time for Rock'n'Roll!

  • I saw these guys back in 1976 or something...it was a Blondie concert at the Beacon in Manhattan. Mitch Ryder opened up and Gordon and Wray came on second. I liked Blondie but these guys did if for me so sick.

  • @Asskicker32294 wow blondie and link at the same show!!!

  • @Asskicker32294 I was there..fuck Blondie, the show ended after these guys...

  • LINK WRAY!!!!!! sorry Elvis, its not even a contest

  • woo! natural born killers! yeah!!!

  • I read in a Link Wray obit that he claimed of himself to be too slow to be a whiz on guitar, so he had to invent a sound...well, he look pretty much a whiz to me in this clip. He's up there with the best!!!

  • isnt link the baddest lookin fucker on the planet when he takes a solo?

  • @TheBrowndawg Yessss! Totally!

  • NO DOUBT, I used to be such a fan of rock a billy in high school, in 98 I read in the

paper he was performing, I didn't even have an idea he was still alive, IT WAS LIKE SEEING A REAL LIVE 50'S ROCKER, I must tell you I was three feet off the floor, plus in his third song there was a fight on the floor, and turned to his band so electified, "were not sticking to this set", what a show , he actually let a few guys play on stage with his guitar filling in, never forget it and what a rocker

  • Anyone got a link to tab for the way Link plays this?

  • damn this sounds so fuckin good, LINK WRAY

  • I'll take Danny Gatton, thanks for coming Mr. Wray!

  • @MrThrunobulax so would the squidbillies.

  • So many owe Link a big pay check!!

  • I'll correct myself here. Howie Wyeth was the drummer on the first three records!

  • Yeah, it is Anton fig playing drums here which is odd because the drummer on the first two records during this period (77',79') was Howie Wyeth.

  • I just saw Robert a few weeks ago in a real small Record Store. He can still bring it too.

  • He's really got that southern boy style.

  • i met link in santa cruz. he put me on the guest list for his show in chico ca. he was the coolest, nicest, friendliest person on the planet. he spent hours discussing music and film with me. he let me take a shit load of photos of him and his wife. he autographed a ton of things for me. if you ask me he invented true rock n roll.

  • @handsomevision

And for some reason Chuck Berry get's all the credit. Music wouldn't be where it is today without the likes of Link Wray, and Dick Dale, and Robert Gordon.

  • @skrimpshidy amen brother. elvis and chuck berry are way over rated. rumble was the first rock song ever. it still freaks me out today its so hardcore. can you imagine hearing that song back in 1957/1958

  • @handsomevision Yep, chills every time!

  • @skrimpshidy that's because Chuck berry INVENTED rock-n-roll guitar.THAT'S why

    he gets all the credit.

  • @gittahfiend Check your history man. Link Wray made the power chords mr Berry popular (some say invented), Not to mention inventing distortion when he punched holes in his speakers. Chuck berry didn't invent squat, he was just more popular.

  • @skrimpshidy there was NO rock and roll guitar as we know it before Chuck Berry

NO one was playing the double note leads before mr Berry.if not for Chuck there would BE no rolling stones, faces ,ect.

  • @gittahfiend LOL, It wasn't Chuck Berry that Inspired the Stones in the first place. Maybe Chuck did double note leads, and that's great. Link couldn't play lead very well most of the time. However, without Link there would be No Rock N Roll. LOL, We can argue back and forth forever, but, I'll give you a concession,,,,,, Rock N Roll wouldn't have been as popular without Chuck Berry. Sad fact, Most people never heard of Link Wray. Rest Assured, Chuck Berry knew exactly who he was.

  • @skrimpshidy I'll give you a concession as well.Mr. Link Wray was a BAD mother

you know what on Rockin' lead guitar !

  • @gittahfiend I knew you had class! I'm glad we could work this out.

  • @skrimpshidy hey, anybody that loves or knows rock-n-roll KNOWS that link was a TRUE pioneer that had great r&r technique till he left the planet. His playing kept him young.and may I say you have class as well !

  • @handsomevision I don't mean to be picky where was Elvis?

  • @shitthisis i dont know? perhaps he was busy shaking his hips.

  • @handsomevision I don't mean to be picky where was Elvis? ALRIGHT nOW i TAKE THAT BACK aaaalllllrrrriiiigghhhttt!

  • @handsomevision I don't mean to be picky where was Elvis? ALRIGHT nOW i TAKE THAT BACK aaaalllllrrrriiiigghhhttt! and that drummer is a monster.

  • Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin) mentions Link as one of his major influences in the movie It Might Get Loud.

  • Check out The Cramps' cover of this...

  • @whiteheat22, Anton Fig (David Letterman show) did most of Links late 70's drum work, cant tell from video but most likely Anton

  • Thanks markdrums1.I love the beat on Mystery Train and I watch this video almost everyday.

  • tarantino pick this one for Natural Born Killers another good one 4 the master of OST

  • Tarantino didn't pick this song...Oliver Stone did. The original screenplay that QT wrote only states that a rockabilly song plays during the diner scene, it's not specific. Tarantino had absolutely nothing to do with the production of the film once Stone got involved.

  • Excellent versions of two of my favourite songs.Robert Gordon and Link Wray are great and the drummer is good too.Anyone know his name?

  • Link is rockin with Elvis now...and when I get there, I'm gettin a front row seat...that's heaven!

  • Great!!!!

  • Fantastic version of the old Jack Scott number....

  • how can you beat this combo ?

  • The two of them together was a fantastic combination. The Father of the power chord and a super singer.

  • We shall not see his like again.

  • Nobody comes close to Mr. Wray.

    NOBODY!

  • of love link wray and them together is awesome

  • Janapink: I think the cramps version is a cover of this version!

  • Best version of The Way I Walk Since Jack Scott

Best version of Mystery Train since Elvis, or maybe since Colin Linden

  • yep, yep, yep!

  • saw Link only once in a very cramped club in Nottingham... same vintage as this, i.e. Fresh Fish Special. The ground literally shook..... unforgetable, and awesome.
