i don't get the energy thing... worship it is not about you or me... it's about GOD! and ppl can choose to worship any way they want... quietly or wild... up to them
Not rude at all. Newsboys recorded the song and increased its popularity.
Jon Egan did actually write the song and penned many others that you may have heard. In fact, another one of Jon's songs, "Overcome" , was just recorded by Jeremy Camp for his We Cry Out album.
Jon, Jared Anderson and Glenn Packiam are original members of the Desperation band and have written many of the worship songs played in churches every Sunday. Search "Jared Anderson Great I Am" for his latest. awesome
"facial expression"? How are you coming up with this stuff? Who said anything about facial expression? Watch the video around 1:45 you'll see the audience calming down. You probably haven't seen this song (or any other worship song) play with the right energy, EVER! There's a term called "mumbling" and that's what he was doing here.
Post your opinions. However, worship is not a matter of debate! If you felt this praise, I'm happy for you, really! But there's no point of making it personal!
What the hell happened to this dude? Awesome song, but no energy AT ALLL? He doesn't seem so free! We put the house on FIRE when we sing it at my church
@rockeyakbar Are you watching the same video I am? Energy comes from the heart, not from facial expressions. If you want to know whether there is energy in the song, watch the audience goin' crazy...
My husband, daughter and I saw Desperation Band a few years ago at Acquire the Fire. They were pretty amazing, and we got to meet them afterward and got their siggys on the Rooftops CD. They are totally humble and gracious. I was also introduced to Thousand Foot Krutch, another pretty amazing band, at that convention. Everyone was jumping and raising the roof on this song, and when we sing it at church, I want to do it then, but am worried that I'll be viewed as irreverant by the old folks.
@crazysingingchick : Don't Worry About What Anyone thinks of you. When you worship it is between you and God. At my church the youth started this jumping, it turned into this insane worship experience I will never forget. And, if God is telling you to do this and you don't you are walking in rebellion. Be true, God Bless you. Hope this helps. :)
You're correct - worship is between you and God. But it's more than that - worship is meant to be communal. It is meant to be shared with others. We are not supposed to be a stumbling block to others - worshiping a certain way that distracts someone else from God then should not happen. Furthermore, be careful not to get caught up in the experience of God as many end up doing - get caught up in God himself, with all your baggage brought in from the door.
I have seen desperation band play this song many times. I like a version they do without the dj better though. When they play it the crowd goes crazy. I almost lost my voice singing at the top of my lungs! It is so powerful. It's true, john egan wrote it! He is awesome. I've heard him speak before. Amazing song!

I was there when this happened in the crowd and they just blocked out the crowd because we were screaming at the top of our lungs and the band sounded better in person

Since the lead singer (Jon Egan) wrote the song, he can play it however he wants. I'm sure he was following the Spirit's leading.

@stormblat Not trying to be rude or anything, but I think Newsboys actually were the original writers of this song.
