i see you using jazz basses most of the time. this is the first video i've seen you playing a stingray, do you prefer the j basses? i'm trying to decide.
90 % of the time I actually only play with thumb and index - "downbeat" with thumb and "upbeat" with index (alternative to a pick with downstroke - upstroke). But when i do use more fingers its thumb, middle and index (triples) and thumb, ring, middle and index (really fast 16'ths)
Okay.. I ask because I do it the other way which seems way easier to me to avoid getting my hand curled up too much. It is as if the ring-finger gets closer to my palm when going from right to left than my index does when going from left to right. If you know what I mean?
I mean the Cave of Ali Baba and the 140 Thieves, with all the treasures inside and that magically opens when you say "cave, open up !". All your postings are like treasures from that cave, and from the Pandora Box that is also a kind of magic mysterious thing ;o) that when it opens it unleashes all the treasures inside... aaaaah, a little bit of lyricism from time to time, 'tween the grooves...
ohooo Peavey cabs ! One of the bass tones that mostly blew me away some 6-7 years ago was the one from Faith No More's bassist Bill Gould: he was using huge Peavey cabs... Another killer bass tone was the one from Robbie Shakespeare when I saw him play with Peter Tosh back in 1981, a hofner beatle bass and a wall of ampegs - fuckin' awesome that was !!!
Its basically thumb and first finger and a lot of raking. Initially inspired by Abe Laboriel and recently Damien Erskine (theres some videos of his explaining this tech)

ring-middle-index-thumb as oppose to thumb-index-middle-ring as I think Gary Willis does...
