I feel like Bret said, "I wanna AKS you a question" on purpose to Booker T... not sure about that but the rest of the promo is the best Bret ever did...
His comedy has been there a lot, but always very nuanced. I think he saw people like Doink beat people over the head with it and it not work...this was his take on the 'cowardly heel champion' idea that wasn't characteristic. What is consistent is his use of logic ("Ric Flair has had a grudge against me..") and his ever present ego.
For the record, every man has an ego to some degree. Do you expect him to NOT know he's good?
One of the few good things Bret was allowed to do in WCW. I almost said TNA there and had to catch myself. So many similarities in that they both had so much potential but were wasted thanks to mismanagement and poor booking. How can you fail as a company with the talent just begging to be used that WCW had during this time period? The same is true of TNA. Why do the people who were responsible for these messes still have jobs in professional wrestling?
Bret Hart says in his autobiography that one of the good things he liked about WCW was the cruiserweight and lucha wrestlers. He found new respect for them and that was what he mainly liked about WCW.
I think this promo was somewhat of a shoot because Bret says that he was disenchanted with the heavyweight division
This is funny from begging to end almost similar to a funny Kurt Angle interview. I agree Bret was very good on the mic from 97 to 2000. 3:32 whatever lol
By early 1997 Bret had learned to relax on the mic, to stop trying to project a "cool" image, and instead just be himself and tell the truth as he saw it. He had several GREAT tweener/heel promos in the WWF. And despite being given very little to work with at WCW, Bret was easily one of the top 10 promos in the industry at the time.
It is 100% revisionist history that Bret was always bad on the mic. He was not Ric Flair with a larger than life delivery; Bret's style was conversational.
The Best There is , The Best There Was, and The Best that Ever Will Be! Not a phrase but the Truth.
Thank You Bret for your Heart.

Comedy, but it still would have been a great match with El Dandy. Plus it would have boosted El Dandy's carrer. Bret is awesome.

The real reason Chris Benoit killed himself and his family is because he briefly doubted El Dandy, which drove him to the brink of insanity.
