Contrast for the brightness, also turn in game brightness up, use Sony Vegas and make a preset that has high contrast for Minecraft, and just call it Minecraft Preset and then whenever you render Minecraft remeber to turn on that preset. That way it is a general thing that doesn't change or you can have a value that you remember for the contrast level.

Diamonds only spawn together in groups of 7. And they spawn atleast 40 blocks away from other diamonds
