  • Dear, I'm thinking to go for Sigma 70-200mm. But Tamron lens is much cheaper. but i need to shoot hand hold like zoo., parks, flowers, people etc. which one is alright, or better? thank you. thank you very much for your great astonishing videos.

  • Poor choice of words. I'd rather have the Nikon but if it's a smarter choice I would get the VRII or the Sigma.

What are your thoughts since the VR is around the same price as the Sigma right now, with the VRII being significally more than both.

  • shooting D7000. Would i be safer with a Nikon 70-200 VR or wait for enough money for the VRII?

  • @tmadd4 what do you mean safer?

  • Sorry I don't see number 4

    Thanks !!!

  • Thanks for the video, I'm currently looking to buy a sigma 70-200 2.8 just to save some money. It seems that base on your reviews Sigma would be the best second choice after Nikon.

  • @eleazarmonteloyola yes - but depends what you need. The Nikon will mean a lot more savings!

  • i'm about to seriously upgrade my SLR camera (currently using Canon Rebel XT with crappy lenses) to a Nikon D5100 or even a D7000. I really don't want to spend the money for the Nikon lens unless I have to. Do you think that the Sigma (or even the Tamron, which seems a few notches below the Sigma and Nikon) is a good enough lens to justify not spending the extra dough?

  • @BIGGSHAUN hey mate, sorry to be off hand, but all my thoughts are in these videos. It is up to you whether the trade off is worth the cost/saving.

  • Hi, thanks for the 3 parts, got the mother of sigmas range 70-200mm os yesterday and i love it already. One thing, the subjects i find a bit boring alright. I know you explained it to that douche bag who complaint about your videos why you go for the subjects you are going for. However how about some nice maybe old cars for example for subjects? Otherwise thanks for doing them! (the videos that is... :) )

  • Hi Matt, Just wondering if you have any input (especially negative input) on the Nikon 80-200 2.8 D version before i make the jump because the VRII is just too expensive for my budget :)

  • Your doing a bokeh comparison with virtually a constant green in the background? Then some random daylight shots at lunar park? No mixed lighting, no low light bokeh and no near direct light shots? How tiny is your brain man??? What about some close ups so we can get an idea of bokeh shape and translucency. A pro photographer....what garbage.

  • @Barnyrubbleism Welcome back! For someone who doesn't like my videos, you sure have watched a lot. I think you have made your point, I will leave your comments up so that people can take your warning about following my advice, or not. But that is enough negativity now, I am blocking your account.

  • @thatnikonguy Mate you shouldn't bother wasting time with replying to people like this you cant please them all

  • @thatnikonguy Matt, replying to him is a waste !

  • @Barnyrubbleism you're really all over this guy's nuts, aren't you? did he knock your daughter up? kick your dog. nothing wrong with his videos. get your lips off of this guy's balls.

  • @BIGGSHAUN Thanks mate - but 'Barney' just started the account the day he started attacking my videos - I imagine it is now abandoned. Forget him - I can take the occasional angry viewer - there are lots of great, thankful and support viewers to outweigh it :)

  • what bag is that?

  • @BillabongNJ Kata bumblebee UL - fabulous backpack.

  • Im getting a tamron, i think i can handle lowlight evens well, as a photographer, you gotta adjuust on different situations. Im only a student, and the tamron being the cheapest juust entices me to buy it.

  • Hi, iam looking for a 70-200 lens for my d7000. Iam considering either the sigma or the nikon.. Iam a amatuer photographer. Which one do you think i should buy?? Iam really really in a dilemma now.

  • @143sinead Mate, suggest you watch the whole series through - it has everything I know in there. Without knowing what you shoot, or what you are trying to achieve - I cannot give specific advice. Broadly, if you are just shooting for fun, get the Sigma unless you are wealthy.

  • @thatnikonguy yeap i did watched all the episodes.. One last question, will third party lens affect my camera?? i mean like slowly making the internal of my camera start to spoil. Or its fine to buy and use 3rd party lens.coz iam playing to buy a number of lenses and somehow decided most of the lenses on sigma. what's your opinion ? thanks dude;D

  • @143sinead rest assured that using Sigma or any quality third party products will not affect/damage your camera.

  • i need to see part 4 mate, im on the verge of buying either the Nikon or Sigma, im going to be doing some pap photography in the UK, which would you recommend? shame the Tamron has no VR or OS. im going to be using them on the D7000, so would love your thoughts please.

  • @thelatinfunktion final now up.

  • Enjoyed so far!! Whats your verdict on these three lens?

  • @abacusv coming soon.

  • @thatnikonguy

Hurry cuz I am on the verge to buy....one... of them :D

    Much appreciated series!!! thanx

  • @f19klunk is uploading right now, it failed over night, sorry. Maybe 3 hours til live.

  • I like the look of Tamron lens and I have to give Sigma lots of credit for providing high quality lens at lower price. Nikon is awesome however. I am even thinking of buying a used but mint condition D2X lately... :)

  • @fvgotch D2x, nice one - why?

  • @thatnikonguy Well, I like the fact that I can pick up lots of available lenses for it, well built, fast operation, IQ good enough for hobby work and lately I've seen some mint used ones on the ads for less than $1000.

  • @fvgotch Cool!

  • Very good video Matt. Very detailed review. You never fail to please. Can't wait for your review on the primes.

  • @joooohhnnn thanks for the comment mate

  • Did you ave the 5100 body mounted on the tripod or the lens. I have the 24-70 and it's really heavy and i wouln't want to have the body carry all the weight.

  • @NDSCollector that was the d700, mounted on the body. fine for short term.

  • Thanks for taking the time to do this Matt...great info. Another bok here!

  • @Umkomaas2010 glad you like it. One last one coming.

  • Great comparison series! Thanks for all the effort...

and Dear Santa, I'd be happy with any one of those lenses to play with but if I've been extra good this year can I please have the Nikon!

  • @froshmasta my pleasure

  • What the hell happened to your body position at 3:26??? Look like you're about to tilt:) or is it just me?

  • thx. for the great review.

Is there any difference between the Sigma OS and Macro version in terms of quality? I want to bye the Sigma one, but without OS.

  • @milamberDaReal I haven't used the macro sigma

  • Thanks. Nice video and very nice review / compare. Nice work. Yes, I think you make well to extend this tests within lenses like that!

  • @NIKONShoots cheers

  • @NIKONShoots cheers

  • Thanks guys for putting me straight, makes sense thinking about it..

  • Nice video, but Look at the bokeh when shooting with the 85mm! OMG! I am quite sure it is one of your favourites... Am I wrong?

  • @manualwarr in terms of bokeh, the 85mm is king

  • Why o why don't photographers use the lens foot for tripod and monopod use??? all that weight on the lens mount.

    Good video though. :o)

  • @Langtoftphotography They (we) absolutely do that,

but NOT - when we are flipping trough three lenses in a few minutes.

  • @Langtoftphotography

He was testing 3 lenses, each of them have the mount in a slightly different place so testing it equally would be harder. He said in the first video that normally YES he does uses the one on the lens. But for this time to make sure all is equal the one on the body.

  • @Langtoftphotography as others say, I did just to keep the body in same place

  • Maybe you can do a final part where you do a global review and give you opinion as to why one person should spend a whole lot more for the nikon lens as oppose to Sigma or Tamron.

Even if I'm a Canon user, very nice video!

  • @wilbertcs thank you. Yes party four will include a final conclusion too.
