When I was little, my dad raped me. Then when I got older, my mother went to jail, and I was stuck with my dad. My brother moved almost 2 hours away by car, and never called. He left me alone with my dad. I was alone for so long, it felt like I didn't exsist. When my mother got out of jail, I wasn't aloud to see her or be around her, and my brother never came to visit me. Now, I live with my mom and bro, he still never has anythign nice to say.

As a teen, living through depression, suicide attempts and anxiety attacks to the point where i can't be in class anymore. Life is hard and you need somebody who will always be there for you. I don't know how i did but i never had anyone. my father was emotionally abusive, my mother didn't try. and if theres one person i wish could be there to help is my older brother. he never did. everytime i listen to this song i cry because i wish i had him everyone enjoy your family because some of us don't
@Troyscout94 it seems to me that it would be really hard to find a family that is close these days or even one thats still together. my mother was a preachers daughter my father was an athiest and now literally everyone in my family except myself and 7 yr old niece is strung out on drugs...from barbiturates to crack, its a shame when you have no one you just have to find someone that you can trust and stick with them because alot of times thats all we have, it may be just the same for them

As a teen, living through depression, suicide attempts and anxiety attacks to the point where i can't be in class anymore. Life is hard and you need somebody who will always be there for you. I don't know how i did but i never had anyone. my father was emotionally abusive, my mother didn't try. and if theres one person i wish could be there to help is my older brother. he never did. everytime i listen to this song i cry because i wish i had him everyone enjoy your family because some of us don't

@Troyscout94 it seems to me that it would be really hard to find a family that is close these days or even one thats still together. my mother was a preachers daughter my father was an athiest and now literally everyone in my family except myself and 7 yr old niece is strung out on drugs...from barbiturates to crack, its a shame when you have no one you just have to find someone that you can trust and stick with them because alot of times thats all we have, it may be just the same for them

When my sister was close to killing herself, I spent my nights hoping to whatever powers there were that she would pull through until the morning, because waking up without her would be harder than anything I've ever had to experience.
This song makes me think of that time when she was teetering precariously on the edge of life and life-taking. I hope she knew I was there for her every step of the way, and I hope she knows I'm always there for her now.

my version of this would be "for my grandpa" hes been in and out of the hospital for a month. it started when he got a knee surgery and ended up with 2 heart attacks 3 arteries caving in 1 clogged artery low blood pressure and the medicine giving him Alzheimer and everyone said hed die but i new he wouldnt and i was right. now he has low (extremely low) blood pressure and everyones saying he wont make it this time and i dont no what to do. its hard for me cause i loved him more than my grandpa

This song reminds me of the bond my big brother and I used to have. When we were younger, we'd play, wrestle, and have fun. But as he got older he made bad choices (drugs, alcohol, tobacco) and now we seem so distant. I miss the days when we rode dirtbikes and played video games. But those days left and I sometimes feel lonely. He's trying to stop his bad habits though and he's alive. But it's hard to think about him without wanting to cry... My best friend is a lot like a brother to me in a lot of ways. He enlisted in the Marines a few years ago and wrote me often during basic. He ended all of his letters to me with "With a broken heart and a straight face.." My replies always finished that lyric, "I'm sayin' brother, help me." I don't know if he gained comfort from that or not, but it was a ritual we performed during ever letter sent. He's in Japan right now, and I'm thinking about him tonight.

This was the song i would sing to a very close friend. We would help each other through our bad times. He did a far better job of it than i, as he committed suicide while on the phone with me in 2002, While the song is still quite dear and always be, it breaks my heart everytime i hear it. It still hurts the same as the day he left, and i don't think i can ever forgive myself for not saving him the way he saved me.
