  • This was like "Where's Waldo" for the nature lover. I bet it is fun hunting for the mushrooms.

  • LOL

  • EXACTLY! Thank you! It's how I feel hunting for them and it's what I wanted the video to feel like, so thank you for the validation! Very cool.

  • this was cool, like a music video for the wake up song. I'm going to watch it again. thanks!

ps-- those mushrooms aren't the special kind, are they?

  • They are special in the fact that they are related to morels and taste incredible. Party in the mouth - not in the mind. ;)

  • love it!! Great music Heidi!

  • Hey Thanks! Check out Richards music - (link in the side.)

  • we never did get that pig of ours did we? probably just as well now that I think about it. your mushroom spotting abilities are superior anyway.

  • Has it been that long? Wow yaffle, time sure does fly!

    Too cute. More soon ~Heidi

  • can they be confused with anything poisonous?

  • False morels and and another morel that can make you a bit sick, but not poisonous. You should always go with an experienced hunter before taking a chance at eating something that could cause harm.

However - one you know what you are looking for - morels are easily defined. :)

  • =) My fond thoughts to you.

  • How do you prepare them?

  • Butter and a touch of garlic.

    I keep it simple! =)

  • Hallo

  • Hallo back!

  • What do you do with the mushrooms?

  • Cook them with butter and a bit of garlic.

They are incredible and almost steak like.

    Related to truffles.... AWESOME!

(if you think about looking - make sure you know exactly what to look for. I don't want anyone eating muchrooms and getting sick!) Much love ~Heidi

  • U R jus Way too Kool H.

  • Awe.... just loving nature. =)

  • I had to look up the type to see if the mushrooms are of the psychedelic variety. These are not.

  • No - they are not. They are relative to truffles.

A party in your mouth - not in your mind... ;)

  • yay spring! :)

morels look scary but i bet they are like smelts - damn good eats.

aren't you gonna come see me in maine? i'll get the lobsters, you bring the morels.

  • Lobster and morels... good God!

It's money right now - I'll know more after I pay for the gutters and boards, but it isn't looking promising. :(

Please call me as your time allows. ~Me

  • They look like little brains.

  • Yes - very much so!

  • Feels nice not to have to wear a jacket outside huh??, sometimes we get fooled, one day wearing shorts then back to wearing pants the next day

  • How funny - I have spent the past few days buried under blankets and keeping warm. From 90 back down to 40...

It's that time of the year - but today is a jacket day!

  • Lovely! Lovely! Lovely! Thanks for the refresher course! I think you missed one though! I saw a lovely but I didn't see you pick it! Well, leave a few to make more they always say. I'll be going out for the first time in a few days. Wish me luck! Good to see you again. Have missed you!

  • Have an excellent time out there!~

Going out again today... maybe I will find the one I missed happy and golden!

I am grateful to have shot his as a reminder for what our eyes need to see. Enjoy and let me know how it goes out there for you. Thank you. ~Heidi

  • Wake up! There's fungus among us again. one of natures gifts from the ground as all things fall in to place and are to be enjoyed if found . ;o)

    Peace and Love =)

  • Going out again today to see what the universe will gift me. ~peace

  • may your universe be as bright with energy and delight on your quest. :p

your gutters are still not up , damn. your losing control of fresh water for a garden. no to mention your damage to your foundation to your home.

    Always ~

share your shrooms, maybe some will get done then. just a thought ;o)

  • Nice to see you again and nice vid.

  • Thank you! =)

  • you are the essence of Nature itself...

    amazing

  • Too kind dear sir. It's been great seeing your comments and thank you for your kind words.

I try to let nature dictate who I am - you know this. ;)

  • Hiya Morel Lady!

  • Hi! Hope you are doing well. =)

  • they have morels in the Sierra Mountains where I used to live... I used to love looking for them and I don't know how to cook or enjoy them as food (just know they are supposedly awesome). Personally I just became fascinated with the way they look.

  • Brainy and honeycomb like.... I'm going to assume that you would find black morels in burned forests where you live?

They are a direct relative of truffles... incredible flavor!

  • not now, I live in hawaii, but back then, yes, in the pine and cedar forest at about 3500-4500 feet elevation. Usually in the shady parts actually... cheers. Yes, brain food that looks like a brain.

  • They found a way to cultuivate morels now I hear.

  • Really? That's hard to comprehend!

With the threat of CCD - being able to pollinate or cultivate anything excites me! ~peace

  • Home grown garlic would be very nice. Are you growing any herbs ?

Berry my heart at wounded knee...

  • I have garlic sprouting and ready to plant - the irony!

  • What is the "season" of the mushrooms? Perhaps they could be allowed to grow, until the garlic catches up,or could be stored some how .If not,of course, you can dry the garlic for next year.

    The reparte!

  • Hello,Heidi. Nice to see you shaking off the winter hibernation. Any special recipes for those 'shrooms? I don't find anything like that here,I do have raspberry bushes in my yard, which EXPLODE with berries soon. I want to find any remaining blackberry bushes nearby, and transplant some of those here.

    Fruit and nuts.

  • Just a bit of garlic and butter... if there is a multitude,

    quiches are in order!

No where near berry season.... but looking forward to it!

    Nuts & Berries

  • The mushrooms are quick to come and go.... and I never dry them - I just eat them!

Also have parsley up already but still young. The trees just opened up, or are in the progress of doing so...

  • Cool Heidi. If I could live like you...I'd be happier :) But I promise you one thing...I would for sure pick the wrong mushrooms and they would find my dead body in the fall :) Nice nose :)

  • False Morels are something that are easy to recognize -

but no - I do NOT recommend consuming any mushroom

unless you really know what you are doing! ~peace

  • Looks like you got as many as you'd want. There was a guy in local news that found a big patch, 63lbs worth.

  • That is one hell of a patch! My goodness!!!

    Going out again tomorrow....

  • mmmm mmmmmorels!!

  • So very yummy! =)

  • Hey Heidi, nice video, good to see you making vids on youtube again. peace

  • Thanks! That really means a lot to me! ~peace

  • I never went mushroom hunting because I was always afraid I'd eat something bad and noone I knew really knew either. I'm going to look for some chanterelles, but not right now.

  • They come up here much later in the summer, but morels are my passion... just love them.

  • Five Stars!!

  • Thanks man!
