In this particular case, no. The tie rod was already loose, however in most cases you will have to use some force on the steering knuckle to pop it loose.
this looks very similer to my 88 crx. i need to adjust mine but the inner is stuck in the outer. i have tried wd40 but doesnt seem to work. any suggestions? thanx
did yu smack the knuckle to give the shock.?

Are you referring to the impact? A generic electric impact from Lowes, as stated in the video.

Heat, and lots of it. A MAPP gas torch from Home Depot should work just fine.
