Has that sheriff lost his frickin' mind? Putting national guard troops on the streets to control crime, speeding and help conduct investigations? Someone needs to put that sheriff in jail for even suggesting such a thing. This is crazy. Allow people to arms themselves and let the criminals take their chances.

Perhaps the citizens of Alabama would do well to emulate the example of the citizens of NOLA, after Katrina, and form local militias. Well-regulated local militias can be trained as a volunteer posse by the county sheriff and used to fill the gap and be the eyes & ears of the sheriff.
