Actually, the solo on Hayeoga was played by Lee Tae-sub. Taiji did the bass and some rhythm guitar here and there, but he usually had studio players do the complicated guitar solos on Taiji boys albums.
Seo Taiji is a pretty good guitarist. He was good in Sinawe and a he was in a few other bands before that. Taiji still plays guitar from what I know I saw a special on him during the 7th issue and he was playing. He started off playing guitar and that was before he was 14 so I'm pretty sure he is better than Ha Sebin from EVE. I'm pretty sure there are others that are better though.
it doens't matter of Eve guitarist side project. we all know who's making more money & gaining all the more fame as korea no. 1 Rocker musician... that is ... *Seo TAIJI* ... 태지 서 ... 정현철 ... not eve -_- no one cares about eve.
We're talking about skill on the guitar, not money and fame. And who cares about that? There are so many shitty pop stars that make more money than Seo Taiji worldwide, does that mean they're better?
O.K. I haven't really listened to Eve. although I don't like their songs much the person you talked may be a real good player.
Taiji may not be the best guitar player but I definitely think he is really good. I'm a little hyper cause I got the remastered album yesterday. Btw, i love the new remake of class idea kkkk
Before one argues about Seo Taiji's guitar performing skill, you have to understand that Seo Taiji is a composer, not an instrumentalist. He doesn't just play a single instrument, he plays many variey of instruments to the extent where he feels that he understands the kind of sounds it can produce. He's not an instrumentalist that play a single instrument; He creates a whole score.
he started out with a bass, than normal guitar. Then I believe he moved on to synthesizer and keyboard, then did some drums, some other uncommon instrument. Only thing he doesn't play himself is the turntable. most of his music Qbert does it for him.
i heard he never did a brass or woodwind instrument. if he didn't im not surprised. 2 reason. 1) its realy hard, and even harder if your a singer, so those jazz musicians who play sax and vocals are really good. 2)i can't do it lol
And if I were to decide which was more essential, I personally think that composing a music itself is much more important. With that said, I think T can play quite well, though I'm sure that he himself focuses more on composing than anything else.
Hahah, I know he's good and stuff. Especially at bass, composing, arranging, and shit like that~ I'm just sayin'... there are a lot of good guitarists in Korea too...lol... Like EVE's guitarist, for example. Or Cloud 9's. Just to name a few~ There's also this dude that recorded some cover/improvs off of a bunch of X Japan songs. Anyway, there are a lot of great guitarists everywhere, haha.
visualrocker69, i donno why u r arguing here how T is not the #1 guitarist. First of all, T is NOT a pro guitarist. but he DOES play it in a pro level. T is a PRO Bassist and His main talent is in producing, composing, arranging etc. He's like a one man band. He's so self sufficient, demonstrating so much talents in many different ways. Simply too creative and versitile. I personally believe his talent is superior than those with uni-talent. It just demands so much more to do all that T does.
is that YG who's on drum? lol

At least he knows how to make hit songs and bring joy. Don't hate the playa hate the game.

Sad. You guys base his guitar skills only on the compositional arrangement his songs are.
Have you ever seen a song called 하여가? He played that whole guitar solo by himself.
As a fellow guitarist with my influences from Vai, Malmsteen, etc. Taiji may not be a guitar hero but he's good enough to be a professional guitarist.

obviously. since tons of people are buying into it.

The mass population will NEVER be the judge of quality. That's where "good taste" comes in.

Listen to his 5th(Take album) and 6th 7th
Especially 5th, he played every instruments himself except for drumming which he programmed.
I heard he did them at home.
Just listen.

I've heard everything that man has released except for the new box set. Not impressed with his instrumental abilities.

THAT doesn't prove that Seo isn't better than those people :P
HeartSe7en 5 years ago
O.o; That's like saying there's no proof that Woo Hyuk isn't a better singer than, let's say, Brian, for example.
It's obvious that if Seo was even close to as good or better than them, there would be proof that he was. So he isn't. Simple logic -_-
