With Jason Todd taking up all the seriousness, I'm glad Nightwing decided to take up the not-as-serious part. "Lasers! He's got lasers!" LOL! I mean, all you wanna say is, "No SHIT!!", but at least he's not trying to be badass like Batman in this movie.
@Rudejack007 Actually, it's John DiMaggio. You really think it sounds like Hamil? DiMaggio's voice is a lot deeper and his laugh isn't quite as manic, in my opinion.
@TheBlackKatana Nightwing was the orginal Robin Dick Grayson. Jason Todd, the second Robin, was killed by the Joker and was resurrected by Ras al Gul. Jason sought revenge on the Joker and became the Red Hood. Hope that helps!
nightwing is my favorite dc comic hero i grew up with him and it was so cool seeing him grow as i was too i wish they made a nightwing show that would be sweet.
@britneyfan45 Nightwing's name is Dick Grayson. At a young age, both of his parents were murdered; Bruce Wayne, who was present at the tragedy, took Dick under his wing out of sympathy. Dick then discovered that Bruce was Batman, and thus became Robin. He operated under the title until adulthood, at which point he moved away and changed his name to Nightwing. They're not biologically related; however, Bruce formally adopted Dick as his son several years later.
@poiklpoiuy1 Nope. Stephanie Brown DID go on to serve as Batgirl later on, but for a time, she was 100% Robin. Carrie Kelly was Robin through and through for all we saw of her.
one thing that my brother and I can agree about this movie would be what happens to Jason Todd, it totally calls out for a sequel (if they do make one I hope it's at least as good as this film). he didn't how Batman moved to bust one of Jason's guns I mean it's like pulling a flash right there
@HaloCorleone I'm more of a Batman/Bruce Wayne girl myself >> If only he were twenty years younger...and real, I guess. And not a complete emotional failure. Sigh.
But hey, I'd date JOKER before Eddie Sparklepire 8||
@SethBOYY Depends...do you sparkle in the sunlight? Or stare creepily at a girl a century or so younger than yourself while inflicting borderline emotional abuse upon her? Or wage a beautiful, sparkly war against wolfmen with disturbingly washboard stomachs?
Cuz I'm pretty flexible, but that ain't hot, bro.
One thing I didn't like about Batman in this was how cold he was to Dick. I mean he knows Dick can handle himself, he doesn't need to worry about him; and Dick knows about the whole Jason Todd incident. Why needlessly push him away?
@gLOLdos Not the OP, but - yes. In the comics, there was a female vigilante named Tarantula who began operating in Bludhaven. During her run there, Nightwing was going through some emotional trauma. He finally suffered a breakdown when she convinced him to let her kill a villain named Blockbuster. While he was curled up on a rooftop in emotional anguish, she came along had sex with him, which could technically be categorized as rape.
In this movie it seems that Nightwing is kind of annoying, but in the comics hes even more darker than Batman. I prefer that and they need a Nightwing movie, a real one. With Chris Nolan as a director.
@gamingdonnie Mind explaining what you mean by comics Nightwing being darker than Batman? He's always been more lighthearted and positive in my opinion, serving as a bright foil to Batman's brooding and seriousness. Just like in this movie.
@Alphaend I mean in this film he's annoying, no doubt however in comics he seems to be more frustrated or discomforted when near Batman. Probably because of the bad experiences, also watch the animated series NightWing is pretty dark. Atleast Batman sometimes says something funny. ya kno'?
@gamingdonnie Ohh I see. Yeah, Animated Nightwing is a big old grouchypuss XD But comics Nightwing...not sure if I can agree with you on that one! Are you referring to some of the earlier issues, when he still had problems with Batman? Or the arc where he felt like he was failing Batman as a protege? Because in most that I've read (and I've read a lot), Nightwing's general attitude around Bats is joking, talkative, and good-natured.
@Alphaend Yea we are both right, at first when Nightwing returns from bludhaven hes very dark but as time passes he becomes more of talkative person. However in Batman animated series hes also quite dark.
Nightwing can be dark sometimes when he's by himself, but it tends to be a self inflicting dark, unlike Batman who's dark life just catches up with him. Whenever Nightwing gets around Batman (just like any other apprentice) he can't help but act like his old self (the inner Robin if you will "Holy Fishcakes Batman!"). Also Nightwing is naturally a performer. Likes the spotlight more than Batman.
Just thought I'd find the most complicated way to say, "I agree with you"
I understand why batman won't kill joker. But, why don't the people or courts of gotham just sentence him to death? I know he is insane but after you keep breaking out of arkham every other month and kill hundreds or thousands a people enough is enough. Gotham is one of the most crooked places in dc universe but they won't kill the joker smh.
Also nightwing needs his own movie. An animated movie as nightwing.
@jagpac13 The obvious answer is that they can't kill the Joker off, because he's the most iconic Batman villain. The in-universe explanation? They're a bunch of dumbasses.
@Alphaend The ACTUAL in-universe explanation is that he's crazy, therefore, legally not responsible. Of course, in the real world, the joker is only alive cuz his the bats archenemy
@DevilishmanThe Yeah, but the OP addressed that and countered that he's killed hundreds of thousands (which probably isn't actually too far off of a guess). Even if the courts kept letting him off the hook in real life for whatever damn reason, the citizen backlash that would have inevitably resulted by now would've been absolute balls-crazy. They'd have to off him on mere principle of satiating the people.
@Alphaend While I don't agree about satiating the people since laws arent for that, I do admit that there's a limit. Crazy or not, the joker should burn
@DevilishmanThe Laws aren't normally, no, but remember that it's Gotham we're dealing with. Honestly, I'm very surprised that no corrupt officals have gone under the table to whack Joker and get the support of the people. They've done just about everything else in the Batman universe 8|
Anyway, political debate aside, we all agree that Joker's a douche that needs to fry. Too bad it's just never going to happen.
@Alphaend i thought that they kept him alive because he was a prime example of a lunatic and they wanted to prove that the system could cure him. but hey, your explanation is much better XD
@0424ivan They're not officially in the same universe, but there's nothing saying they aren't, either. I like to think it's the same universe, myself.
@Alphaend Yeah, and Joker getting bulkier might be a result of fighting Batman for years now, if they are in the same, i wonder how old is batman now since hes 32 in YJ and since Robin is like in his 20s and he did spend a few years with Jason and then another 5 skipped, i think hes pretty old here like maybe even his 50s.
@AFunnyFucker He didn't want to. They're technically on the same side, they just operate differently (i.e. Red Hood will kill, Batman & Nightwing won't)
I reeeally need to find all other Batman/Robin animated shows (cause im from the uk and we don't have comics). I only know The Batman and Young Justice & Justice League but I haven't got round to watching Justice League.
@uberathlete Awesome :3 I've watched the first 3 episodes (its 1 big episode I think) of Justice League but I can't seem to find many Justice League Episodes online seeing as Megaupload and sister sites were shut down around a month ago.
@DikaXP Jason Todd is the second Robin. Dick Grayson (Nightwing and original Robin) quit because he was tired of Batman. You can watch the episode where he quits (Batman: The Animanted Series; Old Wounds) According to Under the Red hood, Jason Todd was already semi trained from being on the streets. Batman took him in and thus he became the second Robin. Then in this movie, he was killed by joker and resurrected back to life. There's also a 3rd Robin (Tim Drake) but he never shows in this movie.
@Madkrillz95 It's not a series, it's a movie. It's called "Batman: Under the Red Hood" and if you have Netflix you can instantly stream it to your Wii, TV, Xbox, Computer, etc. It's really good.
I love how badass Nightwing looks when the crook is saying "He was the Bat's first sidekick, the first Robin." And I personally think they did a good job on Nightwing's character because he still has the comments that make you laugh, like when he was Robin.
@52Katiekinz i don't get the whole "first" and "second" robin part and i can't find the answer could you explain it to me when did batman replace nightwing thus still having time to raise robin from his 10th year of age :D i was so confused when they said that he was the first robin :/
Absolutely loved this movie! I think Neil Patrick Harris did a fantastic job as Nightwing and i was glad he did because Nightwing has always been a favorite character of mine in the Batman and DC comics universe. John DiMaggio really did do a good job as the Joker and Bruce Greenwood did absolutely awesome as Batman! And can someone tell me who did the voice of Jason Todd? xD
To me, Hamill IS the joker, and Conroy IS the Batman. But that doesn't mean we can't see other interpretations. IMHO, John DiMaggio did a spectacular job of making this Joker be dark and menacing without sacrificing his eccentricity.

Ill admit Hammil not voicing the joker was a little disappointing but this new guy isn't half bad.

Okay so if Joker returns in the next Batman game, which I'm sure he will, I'm all for John DiMaggio voicing him. I think he'd do a great job.

And can someone tell me who did the voice of Jason Todd? xD

Nightwing: "You know what I miss most about running with you? The toys."
I don't know why, but I just like that line.

To me, Hamill IS the joker, and Conroy IS the Batman. But that doesn't mean we can't see other interpretations. IMHO, John DiMaggio did a spectacular job of making this Joker be dark and menacing without sacrificing his eccentricity.
