Stan's Spastic jerks made me get into Wall of Voodoo almost instantaneous. I saw them at the Roxy and Whiskey at least 6 times! Dark Continent was my favorite album.
My Dad went to see Stan Ridgeway in concert and Stan was going around the audience with a tray of carrots and dip and when he got near my dad, he shouted "Hi Stan!" and he replied with "Hello guy, would you like a carrot?"
@carpenoctem66 Back in 2004, when i was only 12 years old, my dad and i went to Chicago to see him at Schuba's. Little did we know he was STAYING IN THE SAME HOTEL AS US!!! i ran into him in the lobby, and when i first saw him i almost forgot to breathe... then i was like woah are you stan? and hes like yes who might you be? i told him my name and that i was a big, big fan. he then proceeded to offer me a cheeto from the bag he was carrying. this guy loves to share his food!!!
(lyrics continued: the final one) An average joe from the grand design He breaks his back for big talk He pulls up, he pulls down He's the one over at the lever that puts the lids on the jars Woah-oh, replace all parts with long arm Woah-oh, this business needs a strong arm Woah-oh, replace all parts with long arm Woah-oh, this business needs a strong arm Woah-oh, replace all parts with long arm Woah-oh, this business needs a strong arm It's big talk
(lyrics continued) Chorus: Big talk Big talk Big talk Big talk Mr. Simpson says this business needs a strong arm Some new part to clear out all the deadwood So be sure and install that new long arm by next week 'Cause that short arm over there is through Woah-oh, replace all parts with long arm Woah-oh, this business needs a strong arm It's big talk
This video is Wall Of Voodoo at the Catalyst in (Santa Monica), Los Angeles, California on May 30th, 1981. Lyrics to this song: Wanted: Strong and able-bodied worker Minimum wage Fifty-eight hour week An average joe from the grand design He breaks his back for big talk He pulls up, he pulls down He's the one over at the lever that puts the lids on the jars Chorus: Big talk, Big talk, Big talk, Big talk
Lyrics to this song: Let's go Wanted Strong and able-bodied worker Minimum wage Fifty-eight hour week An average joe from the grand design He breaks his back for big talk He pulls up, he pulls down He's the one over at the lever that puts the lids on the jars Chorus: Big talk, Big talk, Big talk, Big talk
Great. I just shake my head with a smirk with the crummy musicians/lyricists of these days. But then again, these are weak ass individuals these days for quite some time now.
What a great live show those guys put on. I went to see them in 1982 at Royal Oak Music Theatre in Royal Oak, MI. The first conert I ever bought tickets for. I have been a fan ever since. Thanks justlike12 for the great video!
Thank's for this great clip. Great group, great song from an amazing 12" EP. Unique and a bit scary songs that would've been fine in a David Lynch movie
So good to see this. I love this band. I used to scare the hell out of my mother with the Grandma's House telephone track. Thanks for putting this up.
One of the best bands iever saw in Hollywood in the early 80s

The intro to this video reminded me of that.

Stan was always a humanitarian, as he always fed the hungry. The proof of his charitable contributions are now for all to see. Thanks.

I love this tune. The guitarist nails it. Stan is one of the best story tellers of our time. He is such an original.

Great performance of "Longarm" here. Like how Stan takes out his rage on the crowd with those banana nuts!
