That albino senegalus is not albino dude, its eyes are black.. Well they look black in the vid and if they are IRL then its a platinum senegalus :) . I hope im right because platinum is allot more exclusive than regular albino. Really nice collection btw
Good luck. Lol sp. Dabola is hard to come by and same with sp. Koloton. If you are going to order from toyin, I took his last two congi. And I waited for them to imported for two months
@irbenson Thanks! Always glad to see a fellow fish keeper from MFK! I got my collection from local fish stores and Toyin from Rehoboth Aquatics. He's on MFK. His username is Africanman
@Coltons350z Those are on my list and I will be getting them within the next few months. Koloton, Dabola, Koliba, and Volta Endlicheri are all on my immediate wish list. I should be getting a Teugelsi, Retropinnis, Congicus, and a few Ansorgii within the next month so we'll see. =)
Have you ever had problems with the bichirs swallowing the gravel? I've read in some forums that gravel that size can be swallowed and hurt bichirs. Cool tank btw, I'd love to get as many bichirs as you got.
@TopLADivorceAttorney I have not had any issues with my bichirs swallowing any gravel but it is known to happen. I saw my bichirs come close a few times but to my knowledge none actually did. I have since taken the gravel out of my tank however and replaced it with black sand. I think it's awesome and I will be posting a new video of my tank and my new bichirs here soon.
@okamiissun It depends on how small but yes a bichir will eat another bichir if it's able to. I have an Ornate that has eaten like 4 bichirs, a ropefish, and a few tiny gars. If it's able to a bichir will eat it so watch out.
@DarrenChing Sorry for the late reply. If you want your bichirs to grow fast feed them things with lots of protein. Chopped up beefheart, massivore pellets etc. If you change your water regularly as well they will increase in size quickly.
are these all songs from bleach and naruto and shippuden? haha, i feel like i've heard them all before lol, maybe its asian kungfu generation haha, they rock too
This was a while ago, the ropefish is no longer in the tank.. He fell victim to my ornate about a year and a half ago. It was crazy because the ropfish was 8.5" at the time and the Ornate was slightly over 9. He ate him then threw him back up. I was super sad and it was super disgusting! =(
bro fukn awsome tank.... i just wanna know what specie is the best one to have, cuz i have an ornate and a common polypterus and they are two totally different fish
This is just the tank when I clean it. I take out all the plants, rocks and hiding places out and clean everything. Then I put it all back in. You see that about 4 minutes into the video.
I have a senegal bichir,a violet goby,a chinese algea eater,a pictus catfish and a 55 gallon tank do think if I were to get another bichir there would be enough room?
Yeah I think getting another would be fine. Some bichirs like Ornate's or Endlicheri's can grow to be quite large so you'd have to get a bigger tank if you got one of those. Another Senegal or 2 would be fine. They might eat the algea eater if it's too small.
A Bichir Bichir. Because it's one of the rarer bichirs to own. Outside of that one I would own an Albino Longfin Senegal or an Ornate. I like the way they both look.
Sometimes bichirs grow really really slow, sometimes really really fast. I have had bichirs that have tripled in size over a year vs bichirs that have stayed the same size. They are both in the same tank but one just grows way faster than others. It all depends on how much they eat, what they eat, and how good your water quality is.
It all depends on the size difference. If you look at my earlier videos you will see my Ropefish. It ended up getting eaten by my big Ornate. Also my small Endli ended up getting killed by the same bichir. The other bichirs of similar size have been ok but those two were not so lucky. I guess it all depends on the aggressive nature of that particular bichir and the size difference. I wouldn't put a bichir with another if there is a 5" size difference or greater. Ex 10" bichir with a 5" bichir.
Hell that's a great price. You have to understand that shipping fish is much different than shipping a toaster from ebay. Think about it like this, when I bought my 4 bichirs from him I probably saved about $100. I would go to my local fish store and they were charging $59.99 for a fish that he was charging $25 for. Once they tried to sell me a $40 Endli for $150! It was $35 for me to ship 4 fish, that's about $8 per fish. Same with you. You're paying about $8 to ship each fish. Thats not bad.
I realize the difficulty involved. I had never really thought about dividing shipping by the number of fish though; that makes it seem a lot cheaper. It will depend on if I can find any of the species I want at stores. I'm Getting the tank for them tomorrow though.
The aggression level in my tank usually never exceeds the occasional "you're hanging around my territory too long" nip. I did have my 10.5" Ornate eat my 8.5" ropefish though. Outside of that I've never had any aggressoin that has led to any marks or anything like that. My Ornate is somewhat of a bully, but he only picks a fight if someone gets to close to his personal space. Every bichir except for my Retropinnis. For some reason she gets a free pass to hang out with him as long as she wants.
You must not have actually watched the entire video. I clearly show that the video was shot during a water change and tank cleaning. I took everything out of the tank to properly clean the tank. At 4:43 in the video I clearly state that the video from that point on was shot with the tank in it's normal look. I have countless hiding places as well as brush and floating plants throughout my entire tank. Watch the entire video.
