Another thing these people can probably claim is that the water temperature they tolerated is MUCH lower. I was in Cape Town once, and the water comes up from the Antarctic. It's always incredibly cold.

My host told me to stick my foot in the ocean in Camp's Bay. I did and knew immediately that I wouldn't be swimming in the ocean on the western shore without a wet suit. I did swim when we later trekked by the Indian Ocean.

Hell, I surf in New Smyrna Beach, Fl. Shark cap. of the WORLD and I've been surfing here for 20+ years and have seen a few sharks and I've only been brushed against once... never nibbled.
