as far as I can tell, shonen literally means "few years", so it just means youth in general, neither of the kanji refer to a specific sex. I know manga mags like shonen jump target young boys, though, so maybe it's more often used to refer to them. I always loved this video, it's hypnotic and dream-like. makes me nostalgic for something I never even experienced.

@super7fanboy My random guess is; the title Shonen Young could easily pass as a name of a weekly or monthly cartoon magazine and they used to have such photos as in the pv, which actually are all parodies of well-known images from Japan in 80's.

@kyatchi As a Japanese guy mentions below, these images are all about 'Kakko-dasai', a Japanese slang meaning 'cool but in a corny way.' The Japanese wikipedia mentions how many 'not exactly cute' girls are in the pv, hinting that the director had intentions to present the 80's in a kakko-dasai way.
