To be honest, I don't like Fantasy movies (I prefer Sci-Fi) but this movie blew me away - very interesting storyline, nice visual effects, great acting. James Purefoy was brilliant as Solomon. I like the idea that the main warrior/killer/hero was religious. Rachel Hurd-Wood was stunning as well. "Solomon Kane" is interesting, sometime even shocking and criminally underrated movie. I hope they will make a sequel

I saw the bootlegged version of this in January. It was bad. Really bad. But it was so bad that it was actually pretty good (think Troll 2 or the Shark Attack series)

I have seen loads of dubbed movies, so it's not as if I "have no clue". (The german voice for Arnie is actually much cooler than his real voice). And just as an added remark; it wouldn't make sense to learn a language "for someone elses pleasure" - but if you enjoy watching movies made in english, it *might* make sense to learn some for your own..

Seeing as Ron E Howards Solomon Kane predates Warhammer, I'd say its the other way round. Don't get me wrong I love warhammer as much as the next guy, but it was heavily influenced by Solomon Kane and other fantasies. The route of all this stuff is history though.

About dubbed movies : Don't blame people watching dubbed movies. I'm french and ever since I was born, I've been watching movies dubbed to French. French people are used to watch movies this way, whether it is on TV or in theaters. As people get used to see dubbed movies, they don't even see that the lips aren't saying whet they ear. Now I'm 28 and I started to watch movies and series with original voices about 5 years ago and I totally agree with you, you get a much better experience.
I agree with all of you watch Japanese Anime all of the time with English sub titles, BUT, you get tired of reading after a while, not to mention that the more time you spend at the bottom of the screen the less time you have to appreciate the visuals the movie has to offer. thats why I watch dub for the visuals and subs for the understanding and emotion lol, but thats just me.

i dont get the whole dubbed thing... im not from a country of english as a first language and i hate when they dub to my language, even though they do it very rarely to swedish. @Hoglund11 I used to live in Germany as a kid and I was so used to it that it didn't matter. When I got to the US I totally thought it was weird to listen to the same actors in English even though that is the original. You get so used to the fact that it's dubbed that at the end it doesn't even matter. I agree with you, they should never do that, instead use subtitles. Now here is another proven theory...people are lazy (especially in the US) that's why foreign movies don't do good here.

@GamingHell The majority of the world -does- speak English. Though very rarely by their choice. A lot of countries, especially places in Europe, are forced to learn English before they're even 10 years old.

I too find it annoying, mainly because I don't speak Spanish and they seem to have got a winner with this film, however, we seem to get a load of crap as of late (Hannah Montanna movie) count yourself lucky that most of the greatest films in the world (if not all) are in English.

About dubbed movies : Don't blame people watching dubbed movies. I'm french and ever since I was born, I've been watching movies dubbed to French. French people are used to watch movies this way, whether it is on TV or in theaters. As people get used to see dubbed movies, they don't even see that the lips aren't saying whet they ear. Now I'm 28 and I started to watch movies and series with original voices about 5 years ago and I totally agree with you, you get a much better experience.

I agree with all of you watch Japanese Anime all of the time with English sub titles, BUT, you get tired of reading after a while, not to mention that the more time you spend at the bottom of the screen the less time you have to appreciate the visuals the movie has to offer. thats why I watch dub for the visuals and subs for the understanding and emotion lol, but thats just me.

actualy i liked this flick, yeah he looks like hugh jackman, thiers no dubbing in the movie, they speak english. its just being released internationaly. the chick from star trek first contact who played the borg queen and the friar from dragonheart. its a bit overly christian if you can handle that but its still well done. good effects and decent acting.max von sidow is in this, long time actor.

i dont get the whole dubbed thing... im not from a country of english as a first language and i hate when they dub to my language, even though they do it very rarely to swedish. But if i was german, spanish or french speaking (languages i know they dub to often) i think i would still like to see a movie with origional voices. am i the only one?

@Hoglund11 I used to live in Germany as a kid and I was so used to it that it didn't matter. When I got to the US I totally thought it was weird to listen to the same actors in English even though that is the original. You get so used to the fact that it's dubbed that at the end it doesn't even matter. I agree with you, they should never do that, instead use subtitles. Now here is another proven theory...people are lazy (especially in the US) that's why foreign movies don't do good here.
