great painting but why are all of these types of videos so dry and milquetoast? try spicing it up instead of filming for 50 year old widows all the time.
John Hoar is fantastic; I do have his DVD and absolutely love his sensibility, style, and sense of humour. Highly recommended for those who believe watercolour painting must be really complicated. Well it doesn't. After watching his instructions on how to paint a vase of flowers in a loose impressionistic style, for example, I did a similar, impressionistic version of the flowers from my garden —and that's best painting I've done in a while! Now I'm just going on and on. Thank you John!
Thank you so much for your kind comments. John Hoar is a complete one off - a real character and one of the finest watercolour painters around. See his other release Watercolour without Tears - the trailer is also here on You Tube.
I love his paintings. They are not as detailed as you're used to but they just have "something" that makes you keep looking at them. That's the real deal.
It is very beautiful. And where

This DVD was filmed on the North Norfolk coast in Blakeney and Cley Next The Sea. God's own country.

Where did Mr. Hoar get that pallete?
taopaw 1 year ago
@taopaw The Palete comes from Craig Young at The Paint Box Company in Ludlow, England. They are all hand made and thus very expensive.
