i love Collin Raye from the first time in 1999 when a friend made me listen to his album "the walls came down". He really brought down the walls in that one.
you are the best there is Collin and I'm forever grateful that i discovered u when i did, your songs are inspirational and even my 15 yr old loves them..lol
an astonishing performance that breaks down barriers of racism, disability, upper/lower class... it just goes to show you that true love can conquer anything
@Nattles17 I first saw him right after Collin released his Christmas album. The concert was at an old church in Tacoma, WA and part of the Seattle Symphony accompanied him. He brought everyone to tears with "O Holy Night." The CD has been our family's fave since and is played repeatedly during the holidays. I've recently discovered another young talented tenor whose Christmas album is played just as often. If you enjoy great voices check out David Archuleta's "Christmas From The Heart"
@bouncy54 yes David Archuleta is pretty amazing. The night of American Idol where it was him and David Cook and he lost i was pretty mad because David Archuleta is a lot better in my opinion.
@Nattles17 I'm pretty picky about who I spend money on to see perform live, but both Collin & David are worth every penny. Problem with David is that he's so young you gotta put up with an audience half filled with screaming teenage girls. lol. His Christmas tour was awesome though & the girls were able to control themselves as he sang such hymns as Ave Maria in Latin & O Holy Night. I actually flew to Salt Lake City from Seattle to see him. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
I love this song...I have Aspergers syndrome he makes a great point I laugh I love I hurt I fear I cry and I know you do the same things too so were really not that different.
I hate hearing this song, its a good song but, yesterday was my ex's birthday and I spent 8 hours trying to write a letter that was less than 2 pages long. And with all the booze I drank trying to get yesterday out of my head, and this song on the radio, 2 windows, & an old TV (the ones with the tubes) shattered and there is a hole in my wall big enough for an NFL linebacker to get though...Its safe to say I cant feel anything, as far as regret for fucking things up. its hard to walk....
Collin Raye is one of the last country artist to actually sing songs that have meaning. A good catchy song is great, but a truly great song tells a story.
I love this song! I often stand out for "different" people and I like to hear songs which makes me feel that I'm not alone :)
Anyway, don't you know what the difference was between the man and the woman? I'm not sure about it, but once it struck me that he was blind but later I throw the idea...
@SzonKlin They weren't that different... that's the point. She said they were too different, meaning two different of people and he pointed out (with the chorus) that they had all the important things in common so they needn't throw their relationship away just because they were going thru a rough spot.
@kbadertscher You might be right. I Thought that there is some difference because the pairs the video showed were also different from each other (one of them was blind, deaf, black, jewish) and I thought the video might mean that no matter if there are some little difference between them, as color, or some illnes because the most important things, like feelings, are same in them.
Beautiful song! Makes me thing of all the injustices in the world. Like when people aren't allowed to get married because of religion, colour, creed or sexual orientation. Every time I heard it makes me want to go out and fight for Same Sex Marriage.
Hopefully, just like the song, we will have a happy ending.
love this song. It's so beautiful and sweet. One of my favorites by him. He's got such an incredible voice. And the lyrics are so true. Makes me cry every time.
Truer words have never been spoken, written,or sung! Why should two different cultures,socio-eocnomic classes,or personalities interfere with being in love?
I just sent this song to my fiancee by email and I hope and pray that when he listens to it, He will truly try to understand where I am coming from since he says we are two different people.
Thank u, thank u, Thank u! I was down and then by the [I feel] Spirit of God] clicked this expecting totally different got this awesome rendition of life!

@happymike44 thats true. those songs we'll remember forever and dont mind hearing it often. bother's me when i hear my 11 year old sister sing songs and not know wat rihanna is saying like the rude boy lyrics.
@happymike44 I am 28...I grew up on this type of country music! I am now a Rock fan of almost 10 years of bands such as Staind, Alice in Chains, Breaking Benjamin, etc...I stopped listening to country music because it lost it's heart to me. As much as I love my Rock I know that my very backbone of music goes back to the pure true sounds of guys like Colin Raye, Alan Jackson, Garth, Ty Herndon, Bryan White, etc. REAL COUNTRY MUSIC!
@ColdHouTX that's crazy cause that's how i am too what drew me to country was garth brooks with friend in low places i listened to country for years then i faded away to some rock and heavy metal. shit my first concert was bryan white and leann rimes as i got older i was turning to pink floyd, staind etc, etc. i'm now 29 i go back and listen to these old country songs that ARE country and have real meaning..it's just crazy cause now i know i'm not the only one :)
Wow, what a great song !! It's funny how even if you heard this a while back maybe at that time it didn't really "hit" you hard but later when you listen it reminds you of someone or something that's happen to you now..! Thanks Mark for sharing this.
"We've got a lot in common. I laugh, I love, I hope, I try, I hurt, I need, I fear, I cry, and I know you do the same things too. So we're not really all that different."
i always wanna cry every time i hear this song, Collin is really great! When he sings, he really have this way of getting to your heart... I love all his songs, so heartfelt... God bless you Collin..
This man is so good, he's been so under rated, it's a pity he was around when the singers who pretended to be country were taking all the acolades, Colin deserves so much more,
I remember I had the opportunity to see him at a fair when I was five. And a security guard lifted me up to give him a dollar while he was on stage. I still get chills when I remember it.

This is true RealTime. I feel it is also a message that no matter what walk of life someone is in, job wise, financial, neighborhood, etc. it's the deep down feelings that count. There have probably been many people who have passed up wonderful opportunities, both romantic and social, because of the values they have had in their own minds. Thanks Mark for this link. I'm going to admit, I have passed up romance for values, They were republician, I was democrat. I didn't think I would be able to get along with someone of a different political party. I know that's wrong, but that's the way I felt at the time.

She may not be the right one for you..God has a reason why it happened.. One day in God's perfect time and day, He'll give the right woman for you who will love you truthfully...
this was beautiful... we forget these classics ... thanks for being a watch dog for our pleasure ramey... great job. We out here in outer tube space are just sailing along with songs like this. Twyla in Ca...
This song truly was something I was counting on for my possible relationship with this girl I really care for. We have had some really great times together but she just doesn't feel the same... I hate to bring down the mood, but I feel extremely alone and depressed
If she doesn't feel the same way you do than she's not worth your time anymore man. I learn that everytime I ask out a woman and she turns me down. And that happens a lot. It can really hurt your self-esteem but you do eventually find the right woman.
Collin Raye you have a way with touching someones soul with this song. Love is universal, we all need true love it does not need a reason it is the simplest thing knowing that the outward appearance is an illusion it is the inner being that matters.
This is probably one of my favorite songs of all time - everyone is different but we all have similarities and the person you love doesnt have to be just like you - sometimes the differences make it all worthwhile - I saw him sing this in concert the first time I heard it and it touched my heart then and now.

no one was gay in the video. the two men were about race and how color doesnt matter. that we all laugh, love, hope, try, hurt, need, fear and cry.

A heckuva song. Think long and hard before you walk away from a relationship. There may not be that many fish in the sea after all.
By the way, Collin's fans should also check out Great Friends Greetings.

I was in love with her when I lived in London.
I asked her to marry me and she said: no I am not ready to marry yet.
I left London a year later to go to the United States.
I married and divorced when I returned back to London for a brief trip.
I looked her up and discovered she married and is now a Mum.
I learned something about this not being the one.
I still miss her and moved recently to a new city.
To start anew and see if I can start fresh.

She may not be the right one for you..God has a reason why it happened.. One day in God's perfect time and day, He'll give the right woman for you who will love you truthfully...
this message is for happymike44..:-)

Dear Gly
I have been starting the new chapter in my life.
I am very happy where I am at it is beautiful here.
I left the past behind and know sometime it will happen again.
I know that happiness comes from within.
I now can look at London and remember my childhood and know I was truly loved.
I also know that I can go there anytime and not feel that loss anymore.
Take care Gly and may the New Year be prosperous and happy for you.
Take care from Happymike44

Ah Ramey! Thanks for the link to this poignant ballad... nothing quite so painful and rewarding as unrequited love that comes around!
prairielily25 3 years ago 5
The most painful thing is requited love: unrequited hurts much less.

No way, unrequited's much worse. (Speaking from experience.)

This song truly was something I was counting on for my possible relationship with this girl I really care for. We have had some really great times together but she just doesn't feel the same... I hate to bring down the mood, but I feel extremely alone and depressed
SaxStud 3 years ago 2
If she doesn't feel the same way you do than she's not worth your time anymore man. I learn that everytime I ask out a woman and she turns me down. And that happens a lot. It can really hurt your self-esteem but you do eventually find the right woman.

Collin Raye you have a way with touching someones soul with this song. Love is universal, we all need true love it does not need a reason it is the simplest thing knowing that the outward appearance is an illusion it is the inner being that matters.

She had always dreamed of loving someone more exotic,
and he just didn't seem to fit the part.
reminds me of my ex-girlfriend :'(

This is probably one of my favorite songs of all time - everyone is different but we all have similarities and the person you love doesnt have to be just like you - sometimes the differences make it all worthwhile - I saw him sing this in concert the first time I heard it and it touched my heart then and now.
