@anakrousis i tried, even i need to strech 1 hour min when i train to prevent injuries, i tried to focus just on streching at home(wanted to learn lotus without help of hands, so i can jump in lotus form easily=) i lasted i month, it wasnt hard, but now when i know lotus, i just cant find the passion to only strech, it need patience and willpower more that i have right now, but i know 15 years is no problem when you survive the first year =) im i right?
@dra23D Yes, after a while you get addicted to the effects/progress. Then your body craves the range of movement to feel normal. It becomes a part of you.
beautiful.. What I liked the most is the level of control and grace you exhibit. Most jumpbacks and jumpthroughs I see from ashtangis much more advanced than me still are very hasty. My teacher tell me to think of ashtanga being like tai chi. I think I understand after seeing your practice. Thanks for sharing.
wow yoga is so much fun and a lot of emphasis on balance and strength. If I didn't see it with my own eyes I wouldn't believe you can do all of those moves.
Thank you for the response it has really opened my eyes to what yoga really is. It is a long practice which like you said involves listening to the body and listening to one self. Learning and experiencing oneself by the practice of yoga.
realmente me sorprendio no lo sabia !!!!!! pero agradesco a la persona que lo hace desde ya agradesco su buena APTITUD por que son raros lo que lo tienen desde aqui ARGENTINA
many thanks for the tips still not there with eka pada, foot on top of head but not behind yet its getting closer though. Tight adductors I think, been doing 5 minute holds for hips and hamstrings
Truly inspirational, just wondering what series you officially practice, from your other clips you must surely be on 3rd series, cant see you having any problems with 1st or 2nd. Who are your main teachers?
You have really inspired me with this demo. I just started practicing Yoga a few weeks ago. After watching this, I have set a goal to become as good as you. Thanks for sharing this demo. Namaste.
Remember, of course, that stretching is not yoga, and yoga isn't about stretching. Every muscle is tensed and active when you're holding the asana, nothing should be relaxed. "Stretching" teaches just the opposite, that the muscle being stretched should be relaxed.
As David Swenson says: if yoga was about stretching, then dancers and gymnasts would be the greatest yogis in the world.
I don't want to start anthing, but that was a very ignorant thing to say. I'm a ballet dancer and I'm telling you it takes incredible strength to be able to hold an extension. You can't just be flexible. My point is that when you see a dancer holding their leg up at 180 degrees or something, know that the muscles are indeed tense and are being used. It's the same idea as yoga.
Maybe unforlorn thinks so, but he would obviously be wrong...wrong also if he intends to imply I am not employing a great deal of muscular "activity" in the execution here.
Generally through practice of the positions themselves. Sun salutations (the first exercise in the video) build upper body strength. I suggest trying to hold handstands for a minute, maybe supported by a wall.
FAVOURITE!!!!!!!

kissobsessed 2 years ago
The quote is just misused here; what Swenson said was in reference to the subtle aspects of yoga that have little to do with the physical at all.
anakrousis 2 years ago
Ooh okay. Thank you I'm sorry. I just get kind of annoyed when people don't realize dancers and gymnasts are strong.
kissobsessed 2 years ago
Maybe unforlorn thinks so, but he would obviously be wrong...wrong also if he intends to imply I am not employing a great deal of muscular "activity" in the execution here.
anakrousis 2 years ago
Extremely wrong.
Great job by the way. The Vrschikasana B has always been one of the most beautiful positions in my opinion but I never knew what it was called.
kissobsessed 2 years ago
Thanks, man.

*sigh*......yes ...you're right... dancers and gymnasts ARE the greatest yogis in the world...
(Sheesh)

Dancers and gymnasts are not trying to be yogis.

If you don't mind, I'd like to ask you a couple of questions.

2) Do you practice by yourself or do you go
to an Ashtanga Yoga Center?
Thanks
