bullshit those are starving people who have lost work due to corperation outsourcing. wen a co. moves in they hire a few people, pay next to nothing and everybody else gets fucked. like what wal-mart does to small towns. all those people have is pirating. how else you gonna feed your kids in somalia? and they are fearless cause they got nothing to live for.
@kingvic97 Corporate outsourcing? What kind of crack have you been smoking? Somalia is a shit hole because of warlords like Mohamed Farra Aidid. They killed other Somalis for power and decimated their own infrastructure. Now they turn to piracy for a form of income since kidnap and ransom is difficult because people don't holiday in Somalia. If they get smoke checked by a SEAL team or Navy frigate, oh well. They chose their fate by getting into that line of work.
Wow! So coooool! Nice to see our Navy harrasing and bullying Somali patriots defending their coastline and fichermen trying to catch what little is left of European fishing fleets and corporate waste dumping in Somali waters.
Bush=Obama. Their all the same. Wake up America!!!!
@lucianarg30 please get your facts straight, these people are thieves, murderers and rapists,no different then the pirates of old,it's not because they are black or poor,it is because they are greedy and selfish and want to make themselves out to be bigshots when they are really just goldfish swimming in a sharkpool.
Hey, I DO NOT doubt there are criminals mixed among the many poor people who have taken up arms, BUT, they are in their right to bear arms and defend their homeland, just like you and me.
Australia and other countries are in their right to patrol and defend their coastline. But it is not right to bully a country that has never been allowed to rise up (thanks to Britain and Ethiopia).
cause if there was pirates in and around the united states water then the coast guard would handle that shit. but anywhere else and the navy gets the call
Hmm! it seems historically true, the U.S. Navy had first fought against pirates during the early 19th century, along with the U.S. Marines who raid forts and ports on the coasts where pirates are based in. I have an idea of titles for the pirates of Somalia, so here are some of a few titles about them:
I'm being sarcastic of course. You could probably actually feed and educate somali people for the same cost as keeping Navy forces in the area and have close to the same effect in limiting piracy. Those people are just trying to feed their families. END POVERTY, END PIRACY.
waste of time? are you retarded? their response saved a merchant ship from being attacked. unfortunately they were unable to prosecute the bastards, but a ship, it's crew, and it's cargo was protected in each instance, mission accomplished.
I'd rather carry an M4 than an M16 in this situation.

Yea they would never give the Coast Guard the credit they deserve I mean that would be Justice, but we know how that goes in America.

Why is there no mention of the Coast Guard TACLET's and LEDET's who are there boarding the vessels and conducting the actual arrests?
