  • Styx's anthem. Styx personsified the last ugly era in America(econimically) , back in the late 70's, with songs like Blue Collar Man, Babe and this one. Time for Styx to get back together and cut a new album...

  • I used to wake up to this song every morning when my uncle would put the LP on. Of course he he would use his dust brush first. It's a shame that we cant find a place for this music in today's times other than our memories.

  • Hi Melmaldonado: Actually I think that there is more and more space for those "good old songs" in our lives now. It is certainly a result of site such as Youtube. I find myself running even into old concert excerpts, stuff I never thought existed on any media. And more than that: many times my boys - now 17 and at the same age when I listened to this "stuff" - are quite intrigued. So I do feel that there is still a very special place in our hearts and younger peoples ears for this music! Cheers

  • OMG, I will never forget this concert, 1981 I think, and I was the designated driver, and I swear every other person at the concert was polluted....the music was great, the band was great, and then this drunken swine asked me out and proceeded to vomit all over my feet. Whenever I think of Styx, I remember that. HAH!

  • Were there two lead singers- Tommy Shaw and Denis DeYoung? I guess i missed alot not growing up in the 80's

  • Styx inspired my life... God Bless You Guys...

  • This is live footage but set to the studio version of the song.

  • how the hell did they do this flawless live? like i didnt hear any mess ups...

  • Pure excellence. That's how.

  • I saw Styx in concert a few weeks ago and they put on a GREAT show.

  • Where waz the gig ? I wish they would come to Scotland :-(

  • i never realised that styx had a good drummer a very good song to

  • I love how these guys are creative with outfits, though i feel that they're holding back, they need to have more balls, like Freddie mercury, He performed half of his concerts in Diapers for gods sake

  • that guitarist/synth player guy is very disturbing

  • The guitarist/synth player is Tommy Shaw. He is one of the best rock musicians ever. He was very young here. This is like 1981.

  • I love listening to Styx but don't like watching them....

  • @D7J7W7 ... i agree with you.. same thing with me...

  • How's my module-building Goddess?!!!! :);):)

  • This is so cheesy, but I STILL find it uplifting after all these years. *sigh*

  • Tremenda banda!!! Daniel, desde Mar del Plata, Argentina.

  • Haha you know dennis deyoung looks at this video and is like what the fuck! I look like a fool.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!

That was Andre The Giant on Dru?

I thought I heard somwhere that he passed away (died)? (Ande the giant)

  • styx as a collective were brilliant. i always personally thought tommy was awesome but such a shame they parted company.

  • God, this is one of their best songs, my uncle knew em in high school.

  • I didnt know Andre the Giant played drums in StyX !

  • ha ha ha!!

  • Look, Dennis was a major part of the band, and yes, made the band what is was. I consider him a good musician, even today. The other guys, JY and Tommy, you guys rock... even without Dennis, They had some musical differences, it happens. They were great together, would love to see them back together, but they are still all very good mucians and will see them apart anyday. Dont rag them cause they have differences, enjoy what they gave us, and discard what you dont like. :)

  • Seeing Styx these days is like seeing REO: most of the original band is gone, it's not really the same band. Only Tommy and J.Y. are left (yeah, I know, Tommy wasn't even original but he's from the band that we all knew). John died, Chuck quit and Dennis was fired. I'm sure they sound like Styx but it's really not the same. I've seen a few videos with Gowan and I'm not impressed. He plays alright but he can't sing very well. Like Ssweeps said, it would be nice to see them together again...

  • Dennis DeYoung, cant live with him, cant live without him. He helped make styx what it was, but then went off the deep end with his theatrical crap nearly bankrupting the band.

  • Soo what's this whole stuff about dennis? all i know is that he sings/plays well, and isn't in the band anymore...

  • this song makes me just wanna, you know, wave a lighter in the air.

  • great !

  • Completely agree and so does the rest of the music world - Dennis's songs are the reason we know who Styx is. You back stabbing bastards probably get booed when you don't play his songs or even if you do play them without him - I wouldn't know because I wouldn't waste money on seeing this band without Dennis.

  • I'm part of the same marching show too. Good song.

  • yep i like it

  • Hell of a song and that short chick in the green jumpsuit can really take a solo but the tall dude on guitar reminds me of a playing card king. He has the same hair-do. Or hair-don't...but I digress. Not to mention I took an American Airlines flight the other day and who's in the cockpit but the drummer wearing the same uniform!

  • Chick what CHICK? Tommy Shaw is in the BLUE jumpsuit adjust your colour! And if you want to see chicks watch a Motley Crew video!!!

  • Great song! I don't think I have ever seen a drummer that looked more uncomfortable playing.

  • Yep, it's a shame he died though, as a founding member of the band.

  • very beautiful! thanks for it!

take care everyone and always remember God.

    Nahum

  • A lot of slow songs during early 1981

To visit past memory go to

REO Speedwagon- Keep On Loving You

    uploaded by melodieous

To visit future memory go to

ABBA- The Winner Takes It All

    uploaded by abba

  • I LOVE THAT SONG BY REO!!!And this song!:D

  • Greatness!

  • This was some of the "Magic" music for me and always will be.

  • T'night is the night will make history

    Baby you and I

  • Why can't all these guys just get along and do a full 3 hour set and a reunion tour one last time and then go their own ways? ONLY THE FANS LOSE!

  • To 'youbestbequiet' You need to shut your face, 'Dennis DeYoung' is a fine man, it's the rest of the so called back stabbers that are DICKS! Time will tell of course! 'Dennis' you the man!

  • To "Paganshel" you shut your face retard. Let met guess, you know the band personally and know what really happened lol Go pack sand up your ass

  • best song of their works

  • these songs will last forever most of the stuff that is coming out now is forgotten in a week love this music i was born 20 years late :( but i got to grow up listening to this and i love it

  • brilliant !! great memories. thanx 4 postin.

  • This song is killer. What a ballad! Just when music was good.

  • i know you so right i have this song too and just tear up because music was so good them i miss it what the hell happen to good music:(

  • Have all of you "youngins" figured out yet why so so many of the musical artists that came forward in this gigantic era are still here? Think about it. We get wiser... and Jesus LOVES MUSIC

  • i love this song....its part of our closer for our marching band show

  • haha its part of our marching band show too :P

  • how ironic. the director of our marching band is planning on having us play Styx music for some (if not all 3) of our songs for the show next year. we played Bohemian Rhapsody (Bohemian Rap CD composition -- look up Rock Hill marching band '05) this year, so I suggested to him that we should play something by The Who, he agreed and added that styx would also be good.

Our band ROCKS! I love all of our complicated, loud music.

  • Lol we played this for homecoming.

  • Thus song isn't hard, at least for Clarinets.

  • No doubt that Dennis DeYoung was the heart of the best group ever.

  • I miss the times when musicians were actually musicians. Like when they studied their instruments and practiced regularly just making sure they sound perfect. So beautiful.

  • Yes, I agree with you!!

  • wow 8 yrs befor my birthdate this song is the shit

  • Man HOW OLD is this ? I remember DDY from Mr Roboto on, I have never seen picks of his 70's porn stash

  • ya fuck off banjo plucking tossers...Go south and live in dirt

  • Saw Dennis Deyoung a couple weeks ago in concert, and he hasn't lost anything in his voice. He sounded like he did 30 years ago. Best concert I had been to in a while.

  • great songs...

  • i bet you cant sing 1% of what he can

    his voice is awesome

  • That would be his new jersey accent maybe?

  • FCKiiiNN GREAT!!!!

    HANDS DOWN on STYX!!!!

  • Amazing !!

  • AWESOME

  • this band is good so fuck off ya bunch of banjo plucking tossers

  • I'm not sure how a band is better off without the guy who wrote thier biggest hits, had the most distinct voice in the band and who was the architect of thier only number one song and album.

  • It's not. Styx without Dennis is like a submarine with a screen door, or a tank with a picture window. Not only does it not make sense, it doesn't work too well either!

  • Love it, back when there was concept albums. This song is a classic, no matter what you think of the band this song is great.

  • Sampled by Evidence for " I Know ".

  • great song much of what soft rock mixed with rock can create in the styx formula

  • The chord progression sounds very similar to the song "You never give me your money", by the Beatles. Both are brilliant songs.

  • Is the drummer Bob from the 70s show?

  • no. the actor is Don Stark

  • Total 7th grade dance! Song was playing when I (tried to) french kiss my girl friend. Sorry Karin!

  • Did this sing for a Rock talent Contest in 1981....We Won the Contest!....good concert song

  • nothing wrong with this video

  • 2:10

looked like the drummer had some kind of spaz attack lol. 5/5 love the song :)

  • shit I like this song very much....

  • I was given a ticket to see Styx last night. Went to the show and they still kick ass. They didn't perform this song but that's okay. I never really liked this song. Tommy still has lots of energy and the whole band still loves to perform. Too bad Dennis is too full of himself to rejoin the group. That's his loss.

  • I could be wrong but I though Dennis has some disease that prevents him from touring. Maybe I am confused but I thought i saw the Behind the Music of Styx and this was mentioned.

  • He's touring. He just put on a concert in Iowa City, Iowa over the 4th of July. My kids and my ex saw him. They all said he sucked.

  • Actually Dennis very much wants to rejoin Styx spiderdragon, the others don't want him.

  • They are better off without him and his pompous attitude.

  • That's true but I don't think any replacement will fill his shoes well. Same thing with Tommy or Jy you can't replace those guys

  • When I saw Styx last Saturday I was pleasantly surprised at how much Deniss' replacement sounded just like him. If I had closed my eyes and listened I wouldn't have noticed a difference. He sounds just like Dennis.

  • I'm going to watch some live videos with that guy thanks for letting me know

  • IMO lorelei and lady weren't quite as good but everything else was absolutely amazing. And I love lawrence gowen's dance moves

  • DDY wants back in Styx, Chuck Panozzo wants one final Styx reunion of core classic lineup before any other members die. I think it's JY who is like no way. TS turned on DDY, if you see the 1998 Borders Chicago acoustic gig of TS' where DDY appears, they had fun playing together. However, I think TS and JY resented the success of DDY's tunes. A&M always picked DDY's songs as hits. TS had one Top 10 whilst DDY had I believe seven in Styx and one on his own.

  • Great video. Styx captured at it's peak.

  • Beautiful song, but i always prefered Tommy Shaw on vocals.

  • sry theres that freakin feud....

DdY... sooo much better than that freakin guy they have these days.

and i hate not being able to hear Mr. Roboto live when "styx" plays :(

  • panazzo bros> FTW!!!!!

  • I didnt know the lead singer was from birmingham. Those were the good old days.

  • I like Styx music. The time go on but we can remember this age.

  • Dig that green jumpsuit. Where can I find one?

  • now ladies how many of you think tommy shaw is still pretty hot today

  • back in the day. i thought stix sucked. now that i'm 100, they RULE, bitches. i will defend them 'til the death....

  • yeah! a great moment in musical history. dennis deyong and stix....

  • this is bloddy awesome- brings a tear to my eye....and to think i used to laugh at bands like stix! i oughtta be ashamed of myself....and i am....

  • Stix my band.

  • What's with spelling it wrong then?

  • lmao

  • this is awesome.great song

  • The Drummers Captain shirt rocks the most. Ahoy! I think it even has a name tag? Wicked

  • I really wish that Dennis would make up with the rest of the group it is just not the real Styx anymore.

  • Hot.

  • why does he have to ware that green jump suit...tell me! WHY?!!!

  • what LOL.. I love Styx, Eagles & Beatles at the top of my list

  • it's his gimmick, otherwise you wouldn't question his choice of dress or sexuality which is is why he is an old, rich ratbastard and me and you aint....

  • didnt know david spade played guitar for styx lol

  • Love this song, and you never hear it on the radio anymore.

  • "Styx is the Greatest American Rock Band, and they only caught a bad rap 'cause all critics are cynical a--holes."

    Amen.

  • i would kick all your asses if i knew were you guys lived

  • Yes Tommy Shaw & Dennis are the ones that made styx ! :)

  • I watched styx today, and except for the song lorelei, lawrence gowen represented amazing well. Dennis DeYoung and his attitude are no greta loss.

  • Oh yeah, and Todd Suchermann is one of the best drummers in rock history.

  • imagine how many proms this song has been played at........

  • Awsome song! Reminds me of high school, But my god he had a super mullet! And what the hell is that on his lip?

Still, Its a great song!!!! (For Radio)

  • No American band is better than Styx.

  • journey

  • Journey are awesome too, just as good in their own way.

  • un temazoooo!!!!!! que combinacion de voces! muy buen tema.

  • good piano

  • this is one of the best bands the USA has ever produced..I love dennis but..dennis deyoung is not the band.....i was with theses guys in DJs rock and roll on cicero in chicago and in person they are just like the videos....GREAT

  • Is it Gowen or DeYoung???

  • DeYoung

  • great song,great band

  • One of the best bands America ever had....yet, discounted by many.

  • Dennis De young was realy the band if u ask me LOL omg ! I love styx putting them up to my faves of Beatles & on to my other faves

  • I like Dennis DeYoung, but I personally perfer Tommy Shaw's singing voice.

  • what a voice! You cant replace Denis De Young.

  • STYX IS THE BEST !!!

  • Trust me, Dennis DeYoung "IS" STYX.

  • I saw Dennis DeYoung live last summer with my Dad. We were 20 feet away from him. It was seriously the 'best of times'. I am turning 16 tomorrow, but I have been listening to STYX my whole life, thanks to my Dad. The best there ever is.

  • that is awesome

  • im 16 and im happy to say i grew up with these guys

  • i remember the back seat of my first boyfriends car - 25 yrs ago....

    ahhhh squandered youth

  • i might be seeing them on August 14th

  • Holy crap! I didn't notice John in this video before.

  • What the fudge

  • This song has never been truer than it is now the best

  • OHS 1981

  • This song reminds me of graduating from high school. Great song!

  • it brings back high school memories for me as well...what I remember of them hahaha!

  • seen em in tahoe friday, they only played 6 songs.. why only 6? they shouldnt of even performed

  • Too bad Dennis DeYoung's ego destroyed the band.

  • Unfortunately that wasn't the last ego to destroy a band. Van Halen RIP.

  • The same with the Beatles

  • how did he destroy band? and who is Dennis Deyoung. The singer? pianist?

  • Yes, he wasn't a founding member but took over the band. The band wanted to play straight rock and roll but he wanted to play more "showy" tunes, Mr Roboto was the last straw i think they broke up soon after that. They reunited in the 90's but Dennis' ego was too much for them and they fired him.

  • Dennis DeYoung was a founding member. He formed the Tradewinds with the Panazzo twins when the three of them were in Junior High. Later on they added John Churlewski and after that James Young.

  • Thanks for correcting me.

  • Dennis was the lead singer, and pianist, and the band fired him because he always made them put on a little play just before Mr. Roboto, on stage, and the audience boo'd them off, and they didn't want to do it, and he didn't perform the song unless they did it, so they kicked him out. Now Dennis Deyoung tours on his own, and the remaining people from the band tour as Styx.
