MF has been bought and sold so many times over the past century. Federated could save your local landmark. I'm not saying that changing the name was proper, i agree with nessiesmum, but think about the building being rezoned as a mixed-use building if it should close.
I don't believe that you are boycotting a company that is saving a local landmark. Think about it, when MF was purchased by the MAY Co, it was because Federated didn't bid high enough. Federated has the capital May didn't to bring MF back to it's glory
Well, a lot of people are p.o.ed about the name change from Marshall Field's. Field's was the place you could go to buy someone something special, particularly for out-of-town friends, and you could say "Here's something that you can find only where I live." It's nothing special now if there's a Macy's everywhere in the country.
These people clearly have WAY too much time on their hands. But I will tell you, as a Federated employee, that the bottom line there is money. They really don't give a crap about any of this. It is a terrible company to work for too.
This is a great video commemorating a great protest. I personally have averaged $10,000 a year at Field's and won't shop at the store now that they've changed the name. Marshall Field changed the history of retailing, and the store's name should have been made a landmark just like the building itself. If the Macy's people had half a brain, they would have changed the name to Marshall Fields A Macy's Store or Macy's at Marshall Field's.
I LOVE MARSHALL FIELD'S! if your in chicago, it's still marshall fields...what is this macy's you speak of? :)

I love lord and taylor and Mrashall fields.Mf should still belong to target.(this never would have happend if they didnt sell it to may!)

I've never been to Macy's and I don't want to walk into a Macy's store(and it can be ANY Macy's store)because I support Marshall Field's coming back.
