  • Haha, awesome video! personally wouldn't use that 'glow' effect though, you could have maybe de-saturated the image a bit, fitting more with the theme.

  • @viper200691 Thanks. I agree, there's a less over the top version online.

  • @derkoi Could you please link me?

  • @viper200691 Sure, the link is in the top right of the video at the start with an annotation.

  • what did you use to record audio?

  • good film :) remember tho if you want your video to look like film never over expose it because digital white is pure white where as film has a mixture of grays and stuff.

  • @triggerdance Thanks for the advice but the film wasn't shot overexposed. It was a stylistic choice.

  • did you watch movie called snatched?

  • OVER ACTING FUCK OFF !!!

  • @JACKDOLAH like you said, fuck off. dick.

  • neat acting!

  • Been hooked! Gonna start enjoying all your work. Love your style.

Thanks for showing your work. Dangerous Derk rocks. I'm now a fan!

  • @javiermalicea Thanks for the kind words, good to hear you enjoyed it!

  • @derkoi Too much light, why?

  • awesome actor ! Very good film !!!!

  • @RyanDaviesOfficial Same here. It may be his mic though :P

  • Liked everything... except the Fubu shirt.

  • AWESOME............NICE WORK!!!

  • Good job...

  • what lens did u use?

  • what editing software?

  • @derkoi Ah, so thats why he went to the garage? xD nice :P

What kind of post processing did you do?

I am going to buy the 550D to make videos like yours..

what kit do you recommend? :)

  • wats the painting with the blue native american woman called? or whos it by

  • need help here,

could you tell me whats your export settings,

im having hard time editing my videos on premiere cs4 without destroying my HD quality

  • What did you use for editing? What filters for color grading? it looks amazing like HDR:)

  • @malacif That's fucking right.

  • every english short film must have a "lets make a cuppa tea" scene. damn it.

  • great acting!!!

  • @malacif each to their own....fuck.

  • You filmed this with the 18-55? I don't understand how... when i do the focus myself, the lens make an awful noise and there is always digital noise and if I want a bigger depth of field the image gets dark... I need to use it for school if you can give me some tips it would be nice. I always out of focus....

  • @TiToooTiT Don't use AF. Plan your scenes ahead of time, down to the focus you're going to need.

  • @TiToooTiT For more depth of field, Put the apeture value up (bigger number) and turn the shutter speed down. Then play with the ISO but dont turn it to high up or it will get grainy. Try to use the right lights if you need to.

  • People still wear FUBU?

  • very clever I love it. Nice editing with the titles

  • what kind of sd card you are using on your canon rebel t2i/550d when filming? bec i got a pny 32gb class 10 on my t2i and the video i took is bad, any advise? well ill just wait for your reply

  • @mosquitoebites I use a transcend 16gb class 10 card with no problems.

  • handheld ? or stabilizer

  • What effect did you use on the film?

  • hahahaha. Excellent work. Well written, filmed, edited and acted.

I'm looking to buy this model because the 7d is a bit out of my range. Would you recommend it? Everything I've read seems positive, and I love the footage, but I'd like to know what you think of it in low light, etc.

  • what format did you used when you upload this video? i use canon 550d also, but when i upload my video, it seems like the video doesn't have the black label on the top and below of the video..why?

please reply to me, i need help

  • well done!

  • what did you say in the end?

  • good stuff, good edit, good shots and whole thing. The only thing I did not like was gradiation, but this is just matter of taste.

  • @adamore Thanks. Check out the other version with the less over exposed grade. :)

  • where did you get your flexi green screen backdrop? ive been looking for one, please reply :)

  • @spencerduhbarrett It was bought from eBay years ago, the other side is a bluescreen.

  • these are mostly tripod shots this video is so nice

  • what kind of external mic that you use?

  • @LastNetworkOnEarth Rode videomic

  • how do you make the glooming effect?

  • I have the Rebel T2i Just bought I cant wait to see how well I can Use it what do you think?

  • WOW WHAT KIND OF EDITING TOOL DID YOU USE!!!!!!!!

  • stock mic? or a external?

  • @gymfreak0 external

  • How did you get it to pan so smoothly without the 'shakiness' attributed to most HD DSLR cameras today?

  • @ChickenRapist Erm... used a tripod.

  • @derkoi

I know but most pans I've seen on Youtube using tripods are quite bad. Was reading tips on this and most tripods recommended were quite ridiculously priced actually.

  • @ChickenRapist Well you do need a fluid head tripod which gives it that smooth motion. I use Velbon.

  • @ChickenRapist pull the tripod handle with a rubberband. props to brusspup :)

  • Hey! Awesome movie!

Check out my newest short movie 'HEALTHY'

    Thank you!

  • I really liked it but your white balance needed some correcting...

  • Picture looked good. And wow... A short film I actually enjoyed. Rare these days. ;o)

  • @Vortex42 Thanks for watching!

  • Did ya use an extern Mic??

  • Love that cut at 0:40!

  • What movie editing software did you use?

  • you have just inspired me to attempt to make a short film myself.. great stuff

  • @maxfeen Great stuff! Good luck!

  • Haha! Well done! But this is the 18-55mm lens, if this would have been recorded with a 50mm 1.8 lens, would the quality differ alot? Thanks!

  • @Keeroy1234 No the difference in the 50mm 1.8 is the zoom as it becomes an 80mm lens on the 550D and also the depth of field is shallower unless the aperture is closed. The 1.8 lens is better for shooting in lower light as it lets more light in to the camera.

  • One of very few youtube "films" I can say I liked. I wanted more. lol

  • @PhantomLyric Thanks!!

  • I like the overexposed look, not being able to see outside adds to the feeling of entrapment. Also love the ending!

  • @jackeyramone Cheers! The look of a film is so subjective hence why I put both versions up, so people didn't think we overexposed the shots! haha

  • I personally really like the high key look. I wouldn't call it "over exposed".

  • Did you use After Effects for the Text in the beginning?

  • haha :D

  • That was great - I thought the acting was really good , great camera work.

  • What editing software can you use with the 550d?

  • Amazing work! I just picked up my t2i a couple of days ago and have yet to test out the video! Excited to get to work on it though.

  • Awesome. It's really well done. Fun story!

  • someone likes southern comfort ;)

  • can somebody tell me how can I edit canon .MOV? or perhaps what's the best converter for canon's video? I'm going to import it to premiere pro..??

  • @orika001 the camera comes with conversion software

  • @mastermikes23 ok thanks!

  • oh and what is the maximum length of time you have to record on these cam? Thanks

  • Really good, I thought I was watching a real movie. I like the beginning. So is this color corrected ?What was done in editing besides the text?

  • how did you import your clips ? mine are always getting in a lower quality :(

    sorry for my bad english.

  • nice movie :D Can`t wait to get my 550d! I`m gonna make a short too, when i get it ;)

  • really good! I really was in tension all the time about what was going to happen

  • @14wasp Thanks! :)

  • hey nice camerawork. What mic did you use for this film?

  • @pluxonline Thanks, we used a rode videomic

  • it would be better if the camera wasn't to close to the man in the beginning

  • Is "it" the sugar? - personally, I'd be kickin your butt for serving me ASDA Tea ;-)

  • @mjsumner lol yeah it was the Sugar. :)

  • Nice! I just got the 550D two days ago, beautiful camera.

  • awsome.. intense.. cool text effects and the FUBU shirt is classic

  • awsome.. intense.. cool text effects

  • been deciding whether to spring for this camera - nice to see someone actually exploring what the camera can do instead of pointing it at random household items :P

  • Less exposed version was more filmy.

  • Ohhh TIT .. I LOLED !

  • sorter from revolver?

  • What kind of external mic did you use, if any?

  • I really liked it, but why was it so hot/blown out?

  • I love the look of this, did you use any color correction?

  • Im no expert, brilliant editing!! My only snag would be I think you have the iso set a bit too high otherwise excellent stuff ;) (Ie too much light coming in) Would of been better darker I think, but thats just me being picky. Really enjoyed it tho :-)

  • whoa, language!!!

  • what lense did you use for this?

  • 4:00 whoa!!! (pause) Stronger!

  • I like the transition at :39-:41!

  • Way to bright. But good other than that.

  • @fritsis1 what keys?

  • Did you use the autofocus, or were you manually focusing?

  • @Quattro46 Both really, depending on the shot.

  • what's the best lens for film making with the 550d?

  • did u use Balvanz Stabilizer ?

  • Uhm he looks like Moby

  • Do You think the movie shot with T21 550D can be transfer to a 2K 35mm film for cinema projection...

  • @malidish Yeah no problem, there's a good article on the net about it here zacuto com/shootout

  • he looks just like chuckles the cheat :D

  • Dude Amazing. This video is truly inspiring man. Good job.

  • @StickyNoteFilms Thanks :)

  • did you use a video editing program? which one?

because this is amazing I am trying to get into this kind of stuff it looks like fun!

  • @QuickAtTheKeys Thanks, yeah I used Sony Vegas to edit this.

  • do you have any idea on how to adjust the 25p setting???

  • @renzo351 Adjust it? What to?

  • @derkoi in movie mode it only appears 30,24 and 60p .. where do i get the 25p option??

  • @renzo351 You only get the 25P option if you're in PAL land, i assume you're in NTSC land?

  • @derkoi yes you are right... im new at this so thats why i ask so many silly questions, but already found it thx a lot!

  • the garage had a padlock on it lol, nice editing though

  • yeah but... where the fuck is it?

  • Very nice work, keep it up-

  • fucking gorgeous. Cheers, mate :) Good work.

  • @DorrianDante Thanks :)

  • did you overexpose in afterproduction ?

  • @DorrianDante Yes

  • Was overexposure a problem whilst shooting? Or was that what you were going for? Did you use any lights?

    Great film!

    Stu

  • @iamfilter Thanks. Overexposure was done in post, look on my profile for an alternate grade of the film that's not overexposed. We didn't use any additional lights, just whats in the scene.

  • which SD card are u using???

  • @renzo351 A transcend 16GB Class 10.

  • GREAT JOB!!!!! i was just wondering how did you edit your text to be like that?at :53 its hard to explain lol but its cool its like how they do it in the movies

  • @DreamingBIGProd Thanks. The text was just angled to match the perspective of the wall/floor using the titler in Vegas. It's easy to do in Premiere too.

  • what did you mean by the audio syncing with an external mic? I'm seriously considering buying this over the t1i because of the external mic, but I cant find much info on using mics with this camera.. like is there gain/trim controls for the volume? Did you guys use the external mic for all the shots in this test film? Great test film, btw, this is pretty epic.

  • @twomuchcents Well, when we first used the camera (for this film) the audio was out of sync by about 2 frames. However it's not like that now, it works fine.

There is auto gain on the camera that makes the sound really loud, however I'm not using the Alpha version of the magic lantern hacked firmware which disables the audio gain & sounds great. what this video /watch?v=n0GvwzJeyJY

We used the Rode Videomic with all the shots. Yeah.

  • @derkoi Yea, I'm definitely getting this setup. Seems like the most budget friendly option.. and it seems they are making great progress on the magic lantern software for this camera model. We want to start producing music videos for our channel as well as what we do now, and I've been looking into a lot of options for achieving film quality DOF.

  • A lot better then most boring lame test videos. Blow'n out quite a bit (unless you where going for that look) The audio is choppy in continuity (volumes all over the place, etc) some nice composition in the opening shots. I would rather watch your work all day then anything philip bloom put together, FOR REAL!

  • @Whitelinefilms Cheers! Yeah i over exposed it on post intentionally but overdid it, there's an alternate grade I uploaded, check it out.

  • awesome credit placement :D

  • what effect did you use on this??? it has a nice soft touch to it

  • Hello. Nice video, i really enjoyed. My question is, How did u edit the text in the wall? Can i find tuts here in youtube?

Please tell me, im getting a canon 550d soon also. I want to learn this

  • @sooda91 Thanks for the feedback, glad you liked it.

The text was just angled in the text plugin of the video editor (Sony Vegas) and can be done in most editing software.

  • @derkoi Yes! i found a great tut for that. But im not sure how to render my upcoming videos. Do u want to tell me your sony vegas rending settings please? =)

  • what HDSC you suggest me to buy for filming short movies? and which mic are u using??

  • @renzo351 If you want a DSLR camera for short movies, I'd get this one. It's awesome. Mic we use is the Rode Videomic.

  • I would say this camera has quite a major film like look.

  • I really enjoyed this! Great!

  • @zodiatube Thanks!!

  • what where your camera settings
