One of many moving scenes from this enchanted evening of a film. The strange woman, the lie of Lutèce (and the reality), and being confronted by that reality--and the future--in a strangely compelling nut-job street-singer. I thought the singer was a direct communication to Izzy, and she ignored her at her peril. A really fantastic movie, with a little educational interfacing with the old-world Orthodox and Hassidic communities in Brooklyn. Definitely worth a watch!
We went to see SP in LA last Saturday and I couldn't for the life of me remembere where I had heard SEE sung by an old woman at a diner. After putting in several clue words words here it is! You are fantanstic for putting this on YouTube. Great song and a great movie (Crossing D)! Now, to find it to watch again. Thankyou!
*Shrug* I like it here in YouTube. It's my only "presence" on the world wide web and I don't really feel like going anywhere else.
YouTube has been posting whole movies by permission so maybe if you petition them, they will work something out with the people who hold copyrights to Crossing Delaney.
I wish I could. If I did, then YouTube might suspend or close my account. That's just what happened to one of the other channels I subscribed to that uploaded whole episodes of some BBC sitcoms.
Lol! It's so like New Yorkers to go on with what they were doing despite a random lady singing in the restaurant.

Nothing creepy about that lady--she's actually singing with a lot of tenderness and meaning. Very cool.

What hot dog spot is this? Is it "Gray's Papaya"?

Yes I would rather listen to her than that boom box.

The last minute of the scene always makes me cry. It holds a certain tragedy.
