@iamterryfc1 I actually think that the gospels are somewhat based on a historical figure. I just don't think Jesus was anyone special, divine, or pioneered the teaching or philosophy in the gospel. Messianic messages and figures were common in that time and all of them had the same fate. I think that Jesus was an ordinary man, probably charismatic, and probably felt a sense that he was chosen for a special mission like many of his contemporaries, and was killed by Rome.

Yusuf Estes compares the birth of Jesus as being no more miraculous than the creation of Adam & Eve but does not compare the important difference. Adam&Eve sinned while Jesus never did. Islam acknowledges the sinless nature of Jesus and his messiahship but not his divinty. Hmm- who else has never sinned? In the story of the sacrifice of Abraham's son, the Bible story is clear that it was Isaac while no name is given in the Quran story, thus the debate over Ishmael and Isaac.

All lost in words, To be God and man at the same time means man is also God. God is the greater picture, where all came from. Jesus was telling you he was man like you are, and he is also God...but people would rather worship another and have them take responsibility than take it for themselves. People didn't wanto say to people you are all one and from God, if one removes everyone's power or divine right, they can control them by being the One next to God unlike you.

God lift him up to heaven and tricked people with someone who seems just like him. John - The blind (formerly) man was stating that he was the man who was being talked about by the others.
