  • Poor baby. I looooooooooooooooooooooooove anesthesia by mask. I can't have anesthesia by IV. I get to turn my own anesthesia on and I tell ya. Surgery is very familiar to me cause Ive had like 50 or 60 or maybe more. :) I'll be praying for your baby. Did they use the blessed sevoflurane anesthetic? It really enhances my synesthesia, and I just loooove it. I really do.

  • youve got to think of the age of this baby. he probably wasnt really experiencing any of this. Even if he was, he doesn't remember a bit of it. at all. he doesnt remember thsi operation or trip to the hospital or anything, hes too young to have formed a memory. any bad things you see a baby go through until theyre like 3 imo you may as well ignore because it doesnt have any impact on a child because they dont remember..

  • The handling on the part of the anesthesiologist appears to be fairly remarkable, given the baby's movements...looks like nice coordination between doctor, nurse and parents, even as yet all things one would assume...

I do give the lad points for quality opinionation - nice little chime in as the mask was first being applied...didn't have had a clue what was happening (les enfants are like that), and of course, didn't for long, either...

  • He probably will sleep through it.

  • why did he need surgery?

  • hes not happy at all my baby sister still dont like it

  • A usual mixture of oxygen , nitrous oxide & sevoflurane produces a sweetish rubbery smell that's not irritating to inhale ( I'm speaking from expierence ) and sleep comes very quickly as you see in the video , approx. 45 seconds to 1.5 minutes depending on the childs size and weight. The only reason this baby was balling and crying is because he was being physically manipulated and his movements restricted by the anesthesiologist and nurse. take my word for it , it wasn't " torcher " LMAO

  • For everyone here that's just freaking out over this , I can assure you that at no time was this baby in any pain , physical discomfort or experiencing any trauma. My favorite aunt is a nurse anesthetist at our county infirmary and her and I have had many long talks about this. The mask induction method is prefered for infants and small children because it's considered to be the least traumatic method of induction , and you don't have a screaming squirming child as you try to insert an IV.

  • aww watchin this made my heart ache. poor sweet boy, yall as so strong to be able to do this without crying.

  • I hate being put to sleep but now 'cause i have a Op once every year im kinda use to it now....

    Kinda....

still hurts my head alot but got to do it you know!

    :)

  • I can't stand you dumb commenters, you like little pests who lurk youtube like a little troll that you(s) are and show people who dumb and/or ignorant the world is, grow a brain before you start making youself look stupid, And god bless the family of this beautiful baby!!

  • this made me cry II had my last op cancelled on the operating table due to having been told the mask would relax me like with kids,i couldnt breath, took me to a place iv never been before dark/scary which made me have a panic attack.

This time i had pre op sedation (proprofol, hypnovel) it was fantastic didnt remember a thing! The mask to use on children is just cruel they should just inject the general anaesthetic unless of course they cant use it for some reason. Maybe someone will enlighten me

  • my brother had heart surgery when he was 2. Now he doesn't like watermelons because that's what his mask smelled like!

  • what did they do to him

  • they put a mask over him that inserted a special medication that puts him 2 sleep for surgery

  • sory rong hand

  • awk we thing is panicking. awk I just want to grabhim and run.

  • @ilovehandbags06 I wanna kick the medics ass and torture them for an hour...

    No excuse for that. NONE!

  • For kids, I think it's better that they have the mask, rather than the needle. The good thing about the mask is, the anesthesiologist will ask the child what their favorite fragrance is. When I was a kid undergoing surgery, I told her that I liked oranges, and sure enough, my mask smelled like oranges... at least from what I remember. *shrugs*

  • What was the matter with the little guy?

  • poor thing went to sleep while he was still upset.

  • what kind of surgury is he having?

  • poor sweetheart what a scary feeling

  • poor baby id rather have a needle gas is awfull i remember having it its scary ..

  • hey did you ever notis when their puting you to sleep you start to feel stuff that feels all fuzzie

  • yeah u can feel diffrent things hear diffrent things and smell sertain things

  • i hope your beautiful baby is better now, i presume he went in to get operated on, were i dont know but i hope he's ok now, he's so cute, poor fellow.best wishes

  • Are you commenting on this in complete ignorance? or are you just not quite understanding what the problem is?

goto wan(dot)to scroll down and have a read

  • well, ignorent or not - this looks a bit primitive to me. I refuring to the use of gas as sedation and also somewhat the way it is done. And perhaps I wouldn't put things like this on youtube either (and yes I've bin to "wandotdo").

  • its the best way to put a baby to sleep..much less traumatic than a needle.

  • @emzily121

    i TOTALLY DISGAREE!

In this day and age a needle can be injected without baby knowing and knock them out straight the way, the mask gives kids and adults panic attacks prior to op which is just torcher in my eyes

  • @007chica ROFLMAO@ TORCHER It's spelled Torture miss chica

  • @emzily121 Pre sedation works best giving him a sedative medicine before taking him to the OR this way hes would have been very relaxed . This mask method is not bad however with pre sedation there is no crying or figiting from the baby.
