Just watched this film to see how it compares with the book. I'd say it's reasonably faithful, certainly more so than "Ice Station Zebra". As for how good it is, it's difficult to say, watching a little screen on the internet doesn't make for the best objective judgement. I'd probably have to watch it on a proper sized screen like a TV for that. But I'd say passable. Nothing amazing, but decent enough.
Wonderful film, I saw it when I was a teenager, back in early 1970s, and it impressed me a lot. And now it´s good to see it again, to observe stunning use of color to create a dramatic sci fi ambiance. Thanks forever!
Absolutely brilliant film! Great cast, acting, direction, screenplay---and score! It is quasi-CRIMINAL that there's no American DVD of this one yet! Hello! HELL-FUCKING-O! Get the fuckin' DVD available!!!!
