I am a year in 1967 and can still remember very well that my parents had beginning of the 70th a very nice music chest - a Perpetuum Ebner during my childhood years - and still today many, many single records, under it also this here from Elvis as a German RCA pressing with "Make me know it" as a B-side, and I have this record. For me an unforgettably nice interpretation together with the Jordanaires.

Elvis indeed did hear this song for the first time while stationed in Germany; except he heard Mario Lanza's Italian version (O Sole Mio). From what I have read; this is the ONLY song Elvis ever recorded whereby he had his doubts if he could sing; because Elvis wanted to end this song just the way Mario Lanza ended this song. An Operatic ending!! Elvis was familiar with Mario Lanza at this time because Elvis mother (Gladys) loved to listen to Mario Lanza. Congrats my friend; great job!!
