  • Correct. This is most certainly not Eva Cassidy. Not does the title indicate that. But I also clicked on this thinking it was live version of Eva singing her incredible version of this song. How disappointed was when I clicked on this and listened. This woman has decent singing chops, but they don't come remotely close to Eva's. Eva was amazing!!! Always will be!

  • This is nice and all, but I don't believe this is Eva Cassidy. I own 2 versions of her doing this song and neither sound anything like the woman in this video. Does anyone else agree? Also (being a fan of Eva's) the voice in general doesn't match anything of Eva's that I have heard..

  • @MrPedlar007 that´s definitely not Eva, so ist das!

  • who is this I want to hear more of this trio! fantastic!

  • @Shewolfen Eva Cassidy

  • i always get jordan mixed up with libya on maps of the middle east. just throwing that out there. love music.

  • @glrcmptn Ok........thank you for showing your supreme ignorance regarding Geography. Maybe you should think before you write in future. Jordan and Libya don't even share a border. Do you also get mixed up with China and Peru? India and Portugal? Zaire and Dulwich? .........

  • She does make this stuff her own. It is great. Love it... This is coming from a progressive hard rock lover...

  • I love the trumpet in this peice.

  • nice she's great , but i just prefer jack whites version kinda gives a song the real way it should be played

  • bill monroe would be shocked i dont approve

  • Good ol' Eva.

  • Braaaaaa Haaaaa Vooooo!

  • im entering a competition (a solo one) and i have to sing this song for it! im excited

  • Superb 5 stars to each one of you ;)

  • I loved your version! great!!! lots of respect for y'all!

  • Hey, this sounds like blues to me? Is there that much difference? This seems to be a "soft" version of this song. There is more feeling in Jack White's version, he nailed it, the way mountain people sing it. (hills of north carolina here)

  • This is more classified as a "white spiritual" than it is a traditional hymn. It was written by Burl Ives in 1940's.

    This jazz version is interesting...

  • @dance20034 Actually the origin of Wayfaring Stranger is unknown. That is why there is so much contention about what it is and what it is about. Some say white spiritual and some say black spiritual. Some say it is about the river jordan in the US , others say it is about the Jordan River from the bible that runs into the Dead Sea. To confuse the issue different sets of people have made up and added new verses to make it sound like it was theirs first.

  • great playing & beautiful singing voice!

  • Interesting interpretation of Wayafaring stranger.

  • Hymns and jazz can go together

  • Yeah not bad. I think it can be a bit too sparse at times although the guitar is filling it out OK

  • Fair enough

  • Nice to hear something without bass and drums for a change. What does anyone else think?

  • It has the danger of being sparse. What do you think of the fact there are no keys?
