An average driver would have already been confused by 2:55, just make it simple, reliable and make it VERY fuel efficient. That's why people buy a Prius. Oh, and what the hell is up with that pathetic excuse for a screen?!
Enginer has plug-in add-on battery pack to make a Prius a plug-in Prius. It provides 20 miles on electricity and costs 3500 dollars. It is a great alternative for a PIP.
B is NOT High Rengeneration drive. It is motor breaking, like down shifting. When you let off the gas it does not coast, it stays engaged and slows you down, while the motor pumps air. Use full if going down a big hill and not wanting to use the breaks all the way down. I never use B mode.
Toyota dealt with technology as it standsTODAY. The Electric car is not practical for every day longer miles, driving use. The Hybird is the only way to go. Since "Electric" is up and coming, Toyota gave some play to it in the 2012 Hybird. This Prius is a walking exhibition of where Auto tech is now - Practical use of Hybird with up and coming electric.
Whoa, so much new tech. Even the shifter is different. Watching this video was better than pornography.
Still, at least $26,000 for one? How many years would I have to drive that thing before the sticker premium is justified? And unknown availability? The goddamn regular Prius is constantly selling out here -- I guess I can consider myself lucky that my state is one of the 'green 14', otherwise I'll probably never see one.
@tnguyen318 I don't get people's obsession with looks, color, rims, and all that other nonsense; unless the vehicle looks completely radical (ala the Aptera), I think they look fine. Besides, excuse me for asking, but why are you worried about the Prius' appearance? Didn't you say you wanted a Nissan Leaf?
Electric Cars are great. Don't get me wrong. I'm a huge EV fan. However Automobile Companies are sketching out Horrific Looking ones causing nobody to buy them. I didn't say I want the Nissan Leaf.
As I said, they look fine to me (and even sports cars lover like the look of the Tesla Roadster). I also don't see the issue with the upcoming plug-in Prius as it looks almost exactly like the regular Prius and that is the top selling Hybrid by a mile.
Secondly, I'm surprised to hear you don't want a Leaf considering how much you praised it and how you chastised me over and over when I complained about the Leaf's range, slow charging, and the general lack of charging stations.
P.S. The Prius v is not a GenIV. It has the same interior room and cargo capacity as a Ford Escape yet gets nearly double the average MPG. Can you name another vehicle of it's size that gets even close to 40mpg average?
The plug-in version of the Prius will work in mixed-mode so even if you are traveling further than the expected EV 13-15miles you will still benefit from the increased battery capacity. I.E. you can hit the freeway and get 80+mpg for quite some time. For those who have short commutes well you can drive in pure EV. It will also be less expensive than the Volt which pollutes more and gets much less MPG (37 in CS mode) once your battery is drained.
I recently test drove a Toyota Prius Hybrid non-Plug-in. My conception of the Prius is that it's a fuel efficient car. Although it cant go 13 miles on battery mode as with the Plug-in, it gets 50 mpg which beats 95% of cars out there. Good car in my opinion.
Cool idea, I would until at least 2015 before considering buying a plug in hybrid. The technology is still too new in the mainstream market. Reality is, hybrids are JUST now becoming truly mainstream with manufacturers churning out their hybrids.
I wouldn't waste my money until the plugin milage increases, otherwise I would purchase the Toyota hybrid 3 generation....as for the 4 gen which is the 2012 Toyota Hybrid V, I wouldn't even bother to take a look at it being that the they decreased the fuel consumption instead of increasing it; to me that would be a waste of my money.
The 2012 Prius Plug-in can achieve 100 MPG if you plug it in everyday for your daily commute. I don't think anyone wouldn't wanna plug in their electric car. Free Driving.

Looks can depend on taste, however not everything is in the mind. There is a difference between the looks of a square and the looks of a triangle.

toyota prius should just put some damn solar panels on the roof that would be both revolutionary and evolutionary.

@TheCashistrash On model does that. It just powers the AC while it's parked though.

The Prius selling out? More like selling out the market. It's the most horrific looking vehicle on the road. The downfall to Electric Cars.
