Thank you for this.Just saw the movie again and remembered how much I loved this song.Dusty had a one of a kind voice that just touches ones soul.Great singer,
i watched that movie in 88 my teacher katie snare was my friend and when times was hard she was there and i got removed from that school and it killed and made it hard for me to talk about leaving there now mrs snare has alzheimers and if i could be there for her it would return the favor and thank her for making my life a nice dream
I love all dustys songs im such a big fan R.I.P dusty im sure she will be singing up across the clouds sweet as a angel she was and brought so much beauty to the world with her beautiful voice.my mum always played her songs so i grow up with her songs.
I wish I could understand why this song makes me ball my eyes out. I've never been the world's biggest fan of Dusty, although I think she's very good. I do like Peter Allen's music very much, and was a fan of the movie Kiss Me Goodbye, but this song affects me so much - it makes me so emotional and I find it incredibly beautiful. I love it.
Dusty could go deep inside a ballad with that glorious voice & take one to the core of a song with her soul-deep way of emoting...gem "But Its A Nice Dream" from Dusty's brilliant 70's output is so silky and smooth...Bravo Dusty, RIP & love and miss you!
@arguskibby ALways have been thankful in the eighties Dusty & Peter Allen played Los Angeles Greek Theater..dream of a concert was a musical fantasy and Dusty dressed in electric blue dress & high heels looked stunning and sounded amazing & can still close my eyes & hear her singing "You Don't Have To Say You Love Me" & we gave Dusty many standing ovations!
Good thing the director of "Kiss Me Goodbye", Robert Mulligan, has the good sense to use this song on the soundtrack. The movie wasn't quite on the level of his best work (To Kill A Mockingbird; Summer of '42; Same Time, Next Year), but at least it was better than average.
Thanks for posting this cos just when yu thought you heard her sing everything but the phone book this little gem apears... which year was this released...?
Words and music by Peter Allen. Need I say more? He was the best. How could you miss, his words and Dusty's voice. WOW. Thanks for posting I am so glad I found it. Pam
Your 100% right Black Monk66. What happened ? Was it her doings or did we just get cheated out of the greatest of her works that were yet to come? We all are losers, but winners that some great recordings were made
@havenoneatall My guess is that she started to rely too much on the people around her and did the best material that was offered her instead of searching for the best material around. By the late seventies, the quality of the material being offered probably went down, too. No matter the material, she never gave a half-hearted performance, though.
Of course, that's just a guess. Maybe she really liked what she was doing then as much as the sixties recordings.
It would have been a nicer dream if she could have stayed around with producers like the, PSBs, who knew how to bring out vintage talent and show the finest songs yet to come. Aged wine has that effect you know.
I'd have rather Bacharach started working with her in the seventies instead of going into semi-retirement, but the thing I've noticed about Dusty's songs on YouTube is that, no matter what song it is, what style it's in, or when it was recorded, every song is someone's favorite.
If I'm not wrong, this song plays in the soundtrack for KISS ME GOODBYE, the 80s American remake of the classic 70s Brazilian romp DONA FLOR&HER 02 HUSBANDS
Gorgeous song by Dusty written by Peter Allen is mesmerizing and to think in 82 the duo were a double bill at LA Greek Theater...still see her gorgeous blond hair contrast with an electric blue pleated dress...stunning once-in-a lifetime talent!
Today Easter Sunday 09 I've spent gardening and singing one Dusty song after another, 'But it's a nice dream', it's also a very nice song sung by a very beautiful classy lady. R.I.P Dusty and thank you for the music. Ray♥ X X X
I watched Kiss Me Goodbye in 1982 and loved this song so much I "recorded" it off the TV onto a cassette. not good quality but always loved this song and played that cassette to death. the song has some sort of sad memories for me for that time.
this song has haunted me since the 90s and 80s noth imglad i founf it on here it makes me sad cause it resembles my love for a girl long ago alexandra morphew god be with her
Which CD's does this song appear? I have looked through all of her work and can't find it anywhere. I would love to add this song to my itunes collection.
This is one of my favorite songs ever sung. It says so much about relationships and even though they may end, you can still look back on them and smile and remember the good times. I think it speaks to most everyone who has loved someone and then said goodbye.
I have been looking for this fantastic song for ages and could find it nowhere....great video and a nice tribute to one of the greatest female singers ever.
i've seen the movie numerous times and cry every time. so imagine my shock to learn that the singer was a white woman. and this isn't to play into stereotypes, but her voice sounds so soulful and slightly raspy that i've always pictured her to be an older black woman! ha!
An emotional song! What an incredible voice this lady had. She can sing anything, blues, jazz, ballards. Such talent, sadly missed. Also the pictures in video are great. Thank you!
One of my VERY favorite songs by Dusty...Thank you for posting.. and thank you , Peter Allen for the gift of this beautiful song..and for picking Dusty to sing it..You are both missed.
The reason none of you found this song is because it never enjoyed a USA release until Dusty's work was brought back into light after her death. It appears on two of her CD collections if I remember correctly. It is the most tender and heart felt song recorded. It relates to a lot of us that had a nice dream that didn't come true.
I love this song. It opened up the movie "Kiss me Goodbye" with Sally Fields and James Caan and I have been trying to find it since then. This is such a beautiful song with such a beautiful voice!
Theme song to "Kiss Me Goodbye" 1982 James Caan, Sally Fields. Good "date movie"
