well, a 150 dollar guitar won't be very spectacular. But if you're not serious and just want to fuck around on guitar for fun, you know, than a $150 guitar is fine. But if you want to seduce woman into climaxing in the audience than you're gonna' have to up in price... or back in time. The older guitars, especially the strats, are better than the ones nowadays... tone and a sound wise, but if you go up in price you'll still get great sound. either way you're gonna' have to pay at least $800.

Wrong-a lot of playing is skill AND the equipment you use (i.e. what amp/effects you use). So even a $5000+ vintage Strat will sound like shit played through a cheap amp. Also, if you suck at playing, having a nice guitar won't compensate for that.. There's much more to tone than just the guitar played.. Read Clapton's autobiography if you don't believe and Slowhand himself mentions this when talking about his early days when equipment and his money were very limited...

Well, if you want to play blues or this thing you need a Fender Strat, a Boss Blues Driver and a good amplifier... 1500 bucks least...i think.

Fender Custom shop Strat made by John Cruz... I originally thought it was his 59 model from the cover of "Heavier Things," (maybe a copy of it??) In the cd booklet for the two disc Continuum re-release there's a picture of it showing the back of the neck with a Custom Shop logo on the headstock. You might also note it has the same gold Kluson tuners w pearl knobs that SRV had on #1 and underwound pickups. In an interview John said almost all of Continuum was recorded with this guitar.
