It never really looked like a sports car to begin with if you think about it. The last 2 door impreza sold back in 01, so really that would be the last one. Have fun in the mitsu though, you will unfortunetely lose alot of potential. I've researched both pretty thoroughly and its no contest.
WHY THE HELL WOULD THEY CHANGE THE CAR TO A HATCHBACK...this is a sad day.... STi is a race car....not a grocery shopper...I wouldnt care if they made the WRX into a Hatch..But people who buy the STI are buying it for a reason, performance... thats sad...
the reason they changed it from a Sedan WAS because it is a Rally car. The hatchback is much faster then the Sedan due to less drag. This is why Subaru was lagging behind. Petter Solberg convinced subaru that they would be faster with the hatchback, and he was right. Yea, it may look a bit more bland (which helps A TON with insurance), but it handles better, has way more potential, and have some cool new options that can save you some money.
It still doesnt look like a sports car and for such a drastic look in appearance, you would think it would make a significant change- and for that reason i would go to Mitsubishi.
Changing to a hatchback design IS for performance. look at the Ford Focus, Peugot, and Citoren. Hatches win bud. And if u go with the older evos look forward to mitsubishi trannys...
The car is a nice improvement over the older sedans... If you want to roll with the boy racer aggressive styling, buy 2004-2007 STi's... You wan't stealth and utility along with your performance, buy the 08's. The car has improved in every performance category over the outgoing US model... I'd say that's a good thing. The stealth aspect is just icing on the cake.
It's just ugly. I can afford it, but with gas prices the way they are - the looks were the straw that broke the camel's back. I'm not going to buy a car that has good performance, but is an embarrassment to be seen in!
Alrite thats ur opinion on how the car looks(and well almost everyones opinion for that matter lol) I actually like the hatchback nice way to change it up IMO. Not to mention the hatchback increase aerodynamics whihc therefore increases performance. But ur right ppl will not buy a car if its ugly 2 them even if it is a beast on the track.
I still hateeee the look of the car now...

This used to be a nice car that old guys (like me) and boy racers respected. This new model is a pig. It's a shame - it truly is.
