This is amusing because Bette Davis clearly stated she was a real Yankee from "Yankeeland" and just wasn't very demonstrative. She said on the 1971 Dick Cavett interview that she didn't use first names for awhile and didn't kiss people she didn't know. That probably includes people she even knows really. But this is fun because it brings up so many of her films. I coordinated this with her filmography on wiki and read about them as they were brought up. Great career!

Bette is absolutely fabulous and the greatest. They do not have anyone who comes close. There are no longer any stars just faces and skinny skeletons and so boring.

No one who has seen Paul Henreid and Bette together will ever forget them. Their scenes are classics!

@MadeLine278 This entire episode points up Bette's embarassment at the accolades being showered upon her (often in Ralph Richardson's trademark hyperbolic style), and the public displays of affection she's forced to go through. She was, in real life, a staunch Yankee with very reserved ideas on proper public conduct and propriety. She adored and admired people like Wyler, Henreid and de Havilland, but she certainly wasn't going to bust out crying and get sloppy or even be very demonstrative.
