You cannot entirely defeat the Nightbringer. It is immortal and does pretty nasty damage at close range. The general tactic is to run and wait for it to return to its Necron Lord form, then kill it.

Good use of the Skyray MGS, and XV88's. Tau weoponry reduces the enemies of the Greater Good to ashes!
