Better is a judgment that relies on personal taste, so no it's not possible to definitively say that this version is "better" but it is easy to see that any one of these musicians is more talented than all the members of the Strokes put together, and this is more musically interesting than the Strokes' original version.
Cept the Strokes had to write this first so they could spruce it up. The Strokes like to keep a punkish sound which is supposed to be relatively simple.
