Chevy didn't make a 455, Chevy made a 454. Totally different engine. Only 455's made were by Olds Buick and Pontaic, which were all different engines, the only parts that would interchange are the carb and disturbtor
i had a 1984 delta 2 door, it had flowmaster exhuast with headers, a 355 rocket engine, posi rear end with 3.42's. painted black with tinted windows and an alpine system but i sold it
nice!!!i got ah 85 cutlass with the 350 rocket,4 barrel edel brock 650cfm carb & MSD cables & ignition,my homie gots an 86 cutlass with ah chevy 350 all stock,we raced took me by 2 1\2 cars,on the take off my squeeked hes smoked his tires up but i got some good future plans for my 350 rocket, puting mines up pretty soon with some burnouts!!!
thats nothing i have a 1973 delta 88 with a 455 rocket engine lol. Just one problem, its not running cos no ones turned it on in 13 years, i got it for free from my dad after finding out it was his cos it was by my house lol... So im gonna revive it, but i know nothing about car engines so thats another problem...
Nah dude i was talking about the car, like ur car is a 350 and mine's a 455, ur burnout was sick man, but i was talking about the engine, sry for my misunderstanding.
Na no problem, just playing. I didn't want to drop a 455 in the car because it's next to impossible to get heavy duty springs for the front end of the 78 to 85 B Bodies, plus this 350 came with a free th 400 tranny
ill look at it soon, cos im away from it right now, but how many liters is the 350? because i think it is a 350, my dad says he doesn't remember but he remembers it was around 4.5 or something like that.
If it is a 350 and it's the orginal motor in the car the numbers between the timing cover and the manifold will be 395558 followed by a large 2. In 1973 this motor was about 180 horsepower and in the high 200's with torque. Look in the valley that the waterneck overflow tube goes over. Wipe it off, because it's probably has 35 years worht of grease over it
yeah just found out, its a 455, i replaced the spark plugs and bought a new battery for it, that thing needs a pretty big battery huh... Still got a lot more work to go, im pretty much throwing away money cos it looks shit, the leather on the top is all tore up, and the roof is complete rust and holes, i thought i could prime it with etching primer then patch it up, but i was told i needed to replace the rooftop.
Sweet burnout! I was thinking of possibly putting a 350 Olds engine in my Oldsmobile when I get it running.

lol with all that investment into the engine and tranny...you'd think you would buy a posi or a LSD too..

must have been a 454 then cause it was from a chevy truck.

Even the distributor would not interchange between those engines.

My old 61 F-100 had an Olds 350 Rocket Engine with the turbo 400 trans. I raced my friends 95 Caprice and kept up with him till about 60.

camsac 3 years ago
455 cubic inches or 7.5 liters
RedogOnyx 3 years ago
oh snap!!! 7.5 liters? thats crazy, actually im not even sure if my olds is a 455, how do i find out?
camsac 3 years ago
What are the casting numbers on the block? Between the manifold and timing cover?

hehe everyone needs that bit of satisfaction, ill keep u updated every little while.

Diesel springs will handle the weight of a 455. I have a '81 Delta that was a V6. I have a 403/TH350/3.08 limited slip in it now.
