  • Bro, get your leg straighter, and get lower in your sit spin, or you'll have points deducted if you compete with it. Just sayin

  • Where did you take these videos? Which Country?

  • @lilychang2000 United States

  • @scootie12 oh ok

I am a skater too. Can you tell me how to land an axel. I seem to get my rotation but not the landing. My foot doesn't come out in time to land and I fall. Any tips?

  • @lilychang2000 Go on my profile page and check out my video from 08-09-11...I have two slow motion axels to show you how to do the jump properly. You need to keep very quick with the rotation.

  • @scootie12

How do I get to your profile page?

  • @lilychang2000 click on my profile name scootie12 located underneath my video and it'll take you to my video page where my other videos are posted. The one I'm referencing is the newest video. The axel is after the first minute.

  • When you do an axel do you need to use you're toe pick, and when you do a dobble how do you get the speed to spin twice? can you explane I want to try it off ice before on ice! you are rely good!

  • @F1IGHTB0Y

If your doing an axel, you DON'T USE THE TOEPICK. You use the toepick when you are doing a flip or lutz

  • @lilychang2000 you still need to land on your toepick with an axel...its not just the flip and lutz

  • i've been figure skating for alomst 5 months, and i can't wait 'til i can do that:D

  • I wouldn't even be able to stand in my skates at 5am, so you're awesome!

  • @boynextdoor108 UGH! I hate kids that don't pay attention! I broke two ribs going into my Lutz b/c a stupid kid decided to change directions at the last second and slma right into me as I took off for the jump!

  • Loved that axel! Soooo BIG!! Also...with all the talk about insoles I thought I'd mention "Superfeet" The light gray ones are made specifically for figure skate, cost is about $30, and they are sooo great. I learned about them from another skater online and they are really great. My spins improved quite a lot right away because I feel so balanced over the ball of my foot. They also really help a lot if you have knee issues like me :) Awesome flying camel!!! Thanks so much for posting :)

  • i noticed men seem to be better figure skaters than women

  • Don't be so negative....you're a terrific talent.....looks fine...best wishes

  • @boynextdoor108 yeah, the little kids tend to never pay attention :)

And thanks for the comment about the spins.

  • now I am looking for some aftermarket solutions so I don't have to buy a new pair of boots.... some people have said 'superfeet' works for hockey/figure skates. Or would I still be able to have my podiatrist/chiropractor do a custom orthodic (perhaps half size with the toes portion cutoff) and fit that into my skates? Just wanted to know if you or the ppl at ur rink have heard about custom insoles.... (for people perhaps with flat feet, high arch, shine splints, and other feet problems

  • @bibi24 I have orthodics in my skates, and they were done through my skate shop guy. What he did was take an orthodic insert and then heat molded it to my foot, and then inserted into my skate. He has a machine at his shop to make the custom orthodics, and I assume many skate shops would have them. If you have several in the area, perhaps look around to see if any offer orthodics. Maybe I was lucky, lol.

    They are very comfortable too!

  • @scootie12 So the skate shop made a custom orthodics and fitting for you? Next time you stop by your skate shop could you ask if an over the counter insole such as 'Dr.Scholl's' would work? My skate shop can heat mold the skates, ie. stretch out the size, or heat mold for easy break-in. But when I asked them about orthodics/insoles they know nothing about it. Did your shop heat-mold the boot or orthodic or both? was ur foot inside? If you could go into more detail that'd be awesome.... !!

  • @bibi24 yes, my skate shop guy has orthodic inserts. What he did was place them on my feet, and then I put them in some vaccum type machine that molded them to the shape of my feet. They were then inserted into my skates. My skates were heat molded separately. I don't think Dr. Scholls would be the best option as I'm not sure how they'd fit in a skate boot. I'm pretty surprised your shop doesn't know anything about it.

  • @bibi24 BTW, I can always pass along my skate shop guy's contact info if you'd like.

  • @scootie12 appreciate it.... however I am located in Hong Kong atm, going to be a while until I plan a visit to Canada/US again. But sure I would like the contact info if I do pass by the area one day, since my skates will stick with me for many more years to come. I had to wait until the guy who does the measures for SP Teri to travel here to get my custom skates. Before that I had stand WIFAs which gave me even more problems :(

  • might be a little off-topic.... but scootie12 do you have any experience with custom insoles/orthodics in figure skates? I am suffering from plantar fasciitis (bottom of the feet/in front of heel pain). When I did my custom SP Teri I didn't have it made with extra height for orthodics allowance (I would have to give SP Teri the orthodic before making the boot).

  • great job hun :)
