Saw Mike on saturday, WITH SAM YAFFA MOTHERFUCKERS. Awesome show, but for some reason only an hour and a half show. They came on around 8:30 and were done by 10:00.
Still on top form, and great to see and hear them perform these classics again.
@theuncletodd Really? They are trying to get a label to release tghis awesome album? About fucking time, I lost mine years ago and cant find a copy anywhere. Ebay has them, but I am not paying the prices people are asking for a second hand bloody CD that is probably a copy anyway.
Really need to get this al;bum again, and the self titled d-generation album as well. The only two truly great albums of the 90's, apart from the black crowes debut album maybe
That's a great album. You rarely hear such great albums from musicians after they sort of hit their commercial peak with their main band. That Demolition 23 album is a classic.
@Jaques68 It will. They're back and his band has 3 original members, Sam Yaffa (bass) and Jimmy Clark (drums) and of course Mike.
They have some gig dates online. They tour with the name Michael Monroe so they can play best of Demolition 23, Michael Monroe's solo stuff and Hanoi Rocks.
@Jaques68 Your wish came true. In his new band he has the same drummer and bass player! There is a new live video you can find with "Michael Monroe: Dead, Jail or Rock N Roll". It was third or second result.
Henning didn't actually leave the band but he had some problems joining the band outside the US (passport, visa ??) and that's why they had to find another guitarist. Michael really talked warmly about Jay as a guitarist and as a person. Unfortunately Jay took his life sometime later. I saw them in Finland and Andy joined them on the stage for a couple of Hanoi tunes. It was Michael, Nasty, Sami and Andy alltogether for the first time since -85.
yeah it does suck that this music was underrated.. but im glad we still have hanoi back again and they still kick some fucking ass onstage! michael monroe is a legend in his own time
yeah, baby. have you seen hanoi recently? he still kicks ass in a huge way and looks almost (but not quite) as good as he did in '81. amazing rock star and totally underrated
Originally there was 2 Hanoi mambers, Mike Monroe on vox, Sammi Yaffa on bass.. Later Jay Henning the guitar player left and Nasty Suicide stepped in.. So in all 3 members of Hanoi were involved but the band wasnt together long and only did one album....
i had it when it came out, but have lost it somewhere over the last 10 yrs or so, and it is hard to come by now. they should run a re-issue of it... maybe with some unreleased or live tracks as a bonus or something. these were 1 of the highlights of the 90's, its a real shame they never took off. i never understood y, as they were much better than all the boring, depressing grunge and metal that made up the rest of the "rock" scene at the time
i guess people were really dumb then, i mean, grunge was popular then, it's awful stuff really, that's probably why the good stuff like this wasn't cared for much
boy this takes me back 2 a better time, m. monroe, hanoi, crue, pussycat, doing your make-up in the ladies room in rock city, notts, shovin' the girls/bein dragged by the girls into a cubicle for some sex, drugs 'n' rock 'n' roll. cool as fuck never got the recognition they deserved, better than any so-called rock band of 2day, in my opinion.
i saw monroe solo in about '99-'00 he was still kikkin' ass then, saw him 2 yrs ago at rock city notts., with hanoi, STILL kikkin' ass, lookin' cool-as-fuck, full tin of hairspray, %51 shares in max factor, he was still a god. what a cool fucker, makes me fondly reminisce shagging chicks in the ladies room at rock city many years ago, but he still looks better than i did then, hes only about 15 years older than me too. pisses me off a bit.
i love this song/video! but it would be more awesome to see some other stuff by demolition 23. i've heard some other stuff by them somewhere b4 and it sounded really awesome. so if you or you know of anybody that has more stuff by them, you or they should defanily upload it!

Everytime I listen to this album I'm blown away by how great it is! Easily up there with my favourite Hanoi albums. Easily!

like other people have said.. why Mike/Hanoi/solo never hit it big is beyond me
possibly the last great punk/pop frontman left
thank GOD he's getting a 'second' look in 2010---and the reviews are all positive --- time to catch up people
Demo 23 is a GREAT CD---you can find it on the net but Mike and Little Steven are trying to get it re-released--god I hope
