In my opinion the Nickel Creek cover is not nearly as good at the Pavement original. This version was great because it's Malkmus performing it solo which rarely or never happens.

I think SM's singing is perfect for his own songs but, if you've read any interviews with him(like the recent one in SPIN) you'd know how much SM hates his own voice and limited range.
