anyone got vid footage of the ending debate of "pegasus" episode where they duke it out on the phone? that was entertaining as fuck for whatever reason
The sequences after the Rear Admiral shows up are clearly not well thought out. Either she’d be square like Adama with an interestingly different criterion for her judgments, or she’d be a most covert & crafty Cylon responsible for the success of the sneak attack.
No Rear Admiral would infiltrate goons onto her captain’s ship, and that is too obvious of brute force for a Cylon. We ARE talking about a carrier DIVISION commander C-in-C, not a hot-head cowboy captain.
@EmperorofTerra Actually she was executed by a Cylon, who was possing as a civilian contractor, Gina never held a military rank in the colonial fleet, if you excuse me for the correction.
The point I think is that she's not by nature evil. The circumstances she's in make her that way. Yes she made ruthless calls but the circumstances didn't really give her much time to carefully consider her choices.
Certainly she is not a classic pure hero character, but she is also not a pure villain. You'd be hard pressed to find a more nuanced female character on any other show.
A Rear Admiral is a carrier DIVISION C-in-C, not some hot-head cowboy. She'd never infiltrate goons aboard her captain's ship, and fighting 2 carriers is significantly more demanding, which ofcourse requires close cooperation particularly from a subbordinate Adama.
After the enormous beating both human ships had been through, BOTH would all but wet themselves in glee to find each other alive, much less with a capital ship still in the fight.
@greenneutron The sequences with the Rear Admiral are not well thought out. She's a carrier DIVISION C-in-C, not some hot headed cowboy captain, else she'd never have been promoted those 2 stars. Both ships had been badly beaten up, so the 2 finding each other they ought to have wet themselves in glee.
There ought to have been a HUGE crew & equipment swap, and enitre viper squadrons exchanged. 2 carriers is 20 times more effective than 1, and BOTH would adapt to the new division.
1)-Nope.. Cain was allready a character in the original Galactica series..they simply made it a woman now and put her rank above Adama (in the original Adama outranked Cain)
I love the Cain character. While she does commit evil acts she still remains sympathetic, especially with her flashback in Razor.
I find having Cain allows for a contrast to Adama, which makes Adama's balance of military order and considerations with compassion that much more powerful to appreciate.
Your right, but i think at moments she is a poor commander compared to Adama. She sacrifices where she doesnt need to when Adama, only does what is necessary.
The guts? You mean she had the inhumanity to execute people in front of their families? Not to mention shooting her XO for refusing to order their forces to engage in a near-suicidal mission for a non-essential strike on a relatively unimportant communications station.
i agree with you Labartic, she had to be stopped. the war was over before it started. and the only way for humanity to survive is for those last two Battlestars to protect it.
Not evil? She had civilians executed, executed her own XO just so her ship could be involved in a mission that was obviously an ambush and sustained horrible losses just to save face.... she is fucking retarded. Evil and incompetent.
@Sirumakato And did you notice that my comment was written over 3 years ago now, so everything in the damn series was open to speculation you fraking dumb ass.......
And BTW not good to call others idiots on here if you can't take don't give.
@Sirumakato Wow you are really not worth the effort talking to, go away now, and do something constructive with your time instead of leaving stupid comments, why dont you just chill it's a tv show, and like I say it's a show that was open to a hell load of speculation at the time, Final word "Have a nice day." And I'll give ya a smiley face as well just to see what you say next because you have really given me such a day brigtener. :0)
@Sirumakato Yeah I know she had cancer during season 2, but she found out about it in the pilot episode as I recall and the relevance of that plot was building over time, even the speculation of what Adama said in season one where he says "Any one of us could be a Cylon" and only Baltar at that time knows who is and who isn't, which is why I have said in my previous comments that the show had a lot of speculation back in the start from the pilot episode right up to the very end of it.
Ah it dont matter really, but what the hell Galactica is 50 years old and it's still alive and ticking, but god's damn it it's a t.v show and an amazing one at that. But when all said and done I just like the look of the Galactica more than the Pegasus, but thats just me "I happen to appreciate the classic's"
I'm sorry, but Cain was frakking awesome. They should have killed Roslin in "Epiphanies" and kept Cain around longer. Think about it: we'd have gotten a weak Baltar admin rising during an on-going Cain/Adama military power struggle. Instead we got "Black Market" and "Sacrifice". For me. the show is still great but it really ended after Cain's death. Doesn't she remind you of Star Wars' Adm. Daala?
She reminds me of Olivier Armstong from Fma Brotherhood

Clain is like one of the too much glorified Grand Admirals of the Empire, that's why her life exactly ended like one of them. Executed by a captain.

1) Is it just me or is Cain a knockoff of Admiral Daala from the Kevin Anderson SW trilogy?
2) They could have done much more to make Cain a multi-dimensional character instead of a comic book villain.
